guivercuser|52535, I won't given kubuntu specific, but https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-ubuntu#1-overview  https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-macos#1-overview  https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview02:45
guivercI'd suggest verifying ISO before write to media too; https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-verify-ubuntu#002:45
guivercone of the install links is https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/try-ubuntu-before-you-install  (ubuntu... others exist inc. flavors; sorry I don't have kubuntu refs handy)02:46

Maikuser|52535: there's no 'better', it's all a matter of personal experience and preferences03:34
Maikalso kubuntu is ubuntu with just another desktop like all the other official flavors03:35
Maikthe base is the same03:35
revmacianDoes this channel have an affiliated "casual chat" channel?04:36
guivercdoes Kubuntu have a minimum disk requirement documented anywhere?  (25GB is recommended minimum for Ubuntu desktop since 17.10 wiki page states)05:40

dankodileSome programs (eg. Brave / Chromium) won't interpret Ctrl+Scroll (to zoom) if it comes from a touchpad, but will work fine with a USB mouse.  Both are sending 'button 4' / 'button 5' events according xev with scrolling.  How can I work around it so touchpad scrolls are interpreted normally?14:39

Oros[m]Hello all18:33
Oros[m]Quick question, if anyone could help. When searching for software in Discover, for the past days I get results in Flatpak...What might have happened? I have an up to date system 20.04.2 LTS18:34
user|96170hello20:14
Oros[m]Hi22:08
Aponejust for my own curiosity: is kubuntu still shipping with the 'lorder' program (in /usr/bin) - i'm working with an older version (18.0.4) as host system to build a modern linux for my machine and have now a rather old package to install, which invokes at some point the 'lorder' program (it's a shell script) and geez... this script does not work at22:19
Aponeall (with modern coreutils) and can be found here: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base/head/usr.bin/lorder/lorder.sh?revision=326025&view=markup22:19
revmacianNew to Kubuntu. The icons in the panel (Task Manager?) have text next to them. Is there a way to get just the icons without any text?23:23
DragnslcrI don't see an option for it, which is surprising23:27
revmacianDragnslcr: Yeah, I expected to see an option for it too and it wasn't there. I have been using Linux Mint since 2013 (Cinnamon) and I know this is a new DE and I should get used to things. I haven't used KDE since KDE3.23:28
RikMillswhat release?23:28
revmacianI will say that KDE has improved quite a bit since I used it in Fedora Core years ago. I like it.23:28
revmacianRikMills: Kubuntu 20.04. Just installed yesterday23:29
RikMillsright click the panel near a task. in the popup menu you get click 'show alternatives'23:30
RikMillschoose icons only task manager, and switch23:31
DragnslcrThere you go then23:31
revmacianRikMills: That did it! Perfect, thank you!23:33
revmacianOh ho ho, this looks excellent now!23:34
revmacianI had to go to "edit panel" to get the "show alternatives". I'll have to remember that.23:34
RikMillsyou can do the same on the start menu button to switch styles of menu23:36
revmacianOh, wow, it's so nice to have options! Thank you RikMills23:38
revmacianNow I don't know which Menu to choose, they're all great.23:40
revmacianBelieve it or not, that was my only issue. I have been using gnome and cinnamon for almost two decades and that was my only issue. This is proof that the Kubuntu devs did an excellent job.23:53
