[00:05] I've been using KDE for something like 15 years. The best part for me has always been the ability to change things to how I like it. [00:07] Dragnslcr: Indeed. I actually expected to have numerous issues, but it's gone smoothly [00:08] Some global themes simply won't uninstall, but I've found that is a known bug.. so I'm not going to worry about it. [01:08] Well, since I can't find a single problem with Kubuntu then I doubt I need to be here until I learn enough that I am able to help others. Good day :) === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life === lex is now known as Guest18913 [05:33] currently just testing [05:54] Quick question, if anyone could help. When searching for software in Discover, for the past days I get results in Flatpak...What might have happened? I have an up to date system 20.04.2 LTS [07:36] Good morning === Guest18024 is now known as lordievader [07:52] Good morning! [09:41] Every time I plug my earphone, I have to manually open System Settings and tell Kubuntu to use the internal microphone instead of the non-existent headset microphone. [09:45] I think you can try uninstalling the device and reinstalling it but this time setting that it is an earphone and not a mic. [09:46] Uninstall what device? [09:46] The earphone. [09:46] Oh wait, it is a wired one? [09:47] yep [09:47] plain old 3.5mm plug [09:49] Hmm I have to try that too later and let you know cause I had similar issue but with a Bluetooth headset === root is now known as Guest64169 [10:46] I get issues with vanishing sound devices on a Thinkpad 420. … After updating the device is gone. … Fiddeling around with ALSA I gozt it back. … NO CLUE [12:10] It seems my hidden folders are 'dimmed' compared to normal folders in Dolphin. Is there a way to make all fodlers appear the same? Kubuntu 20.04 [12:21] Hi all [12:22] still couldnt connect to FTP folder directly (add network folder makes me enter pwd for every file i open) [12:22] Howdy folks [12:22] my router support smb and ftp only no ssh [12:30] Achim Souverän ES was added by: Achim Souverän ES [12:30] Greetings [12:32] I am having problems installing AnyDesk [12:33] It tells me that it cannot satisfy dependancies, no mather which version I am trying to install [12:35] Achim: Have you tried installing the deps manually from the package manager? [12:36] What release are you on? [12:43] 20.10 [12:44] @revmacian, I compared one library and it seems like this one ist not availaibe for 20.10 [12:45] let me see if there is an issue [12:46] @RikMills, how? [12:47] By trying to install in it a 20.10 VM [12:48] @RikMills, ok, thanks [12:49] will be a few mins. need to update the VM 1st [12:49] @RikMills, take your time [12:51] do you have many PPAs, other external repos, or externally downloaded debs installed? [12:52] because I suspect this will install fine in a clean VM [12:52] the dependencies of the deb file look fine at a quick look [12:54] @RikMills, Yes, I think that I have a general problem. I also cannot install Google Earth [12:55] Softmaker Office and Teamviewer [12:55] no PPAs [12:55] as well as Virtualbox [12:56] usually the best way to diagnose is to fall back to apt, and iterate through the deps [12:57] e.g. if apt install anydesk says cannot install xzylib, then try apt install anydesk xzylib [12:58] if apt install anydesk xzylib then says cannot install someotherpackage, then try apt install anydesk xzylib someotherpackage [12:58] and so on [12:58] in many case you end up with apt telling you the root cause after a while [12:59] also I cannot add authentifications. When I click "import key file" nothing happens [12:59] weird [13:00] your system does not sound healthy :/ [13:01] yep [13:02] I installed it only 3 months ago on a new ssd [13:08] That is not old :( [13:09] Slowest VM update ever, done. [13:11] (Photo, 1248x924) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/f8l0YWtI/file_41619.jpg [13:12] Ah, so installing via apt instead of dpkg. I forgot about that trick [13:12] * RikMills nods [13:14] So no issue under a clean default install of 20.10 [13:15] Achim: Have you somehow mixed your repos? That can yield odd behavior [13:16] Mixed repos = using repos from Ubuntu 20.10 + 20.04 + 19.10, etc [13:16] I've seen that happens lots of times [13:23] Anyone know where I can find the wallpaer at the top of the kde page? https://kubuntu.org/ [13:24] I would love to have that on my desktop [13:27] revmacian: that is the default Plasma 5.19 one https://invent.kde.org/plasma/breeze/-/tree/Plasma/5.19/wallpapers/Next/contents/images [13:28] RikMills: Thank y ou! I've been searching google and others for that since yesterday. I should have asked here first :) [13:29] @revmacian, perhaps I will Not that I am aware of. [13:30] Achim: Yeah, you don't want to mix repos. Problems may not appear immediately, but once it's done it's a mess to try to fix. Check your repos and make sure there aren't mixes there [13:32] How can I share a picture?
