vitor | Hello | 18:58 |
vitor | I want to know if there is any xfce documentation | 18:59 |
vitor | hey | 18:59 |
vitor | ls | 18:59 |
VitorCdn1 | Hello | 19:00 |
jjbuggle | I seem to have lost the ability to drag with the right mouse button. I was hoping to use it to make links to files, rather than move the files. | 19:34 |
jjbuggle | nm, I figured it out. I had to use the icon view rather than the detailed list view | 19:39 |
xu-help69w | Hi, if there is anybody here able (and willing) ti help me answer my problem: I am trying to install Xubuntu on a computer without removing Win10. Install hangs at creating Root partition since about 40mins | 19:41 |
xu-help69w | last line showing : xubuntu wpa_supplicant[1494]: wlx060c000b48d1: CTRL-EVENT-SIGNAL-CHANGE above=1 signal=-55 noise=9999 txrate=39000 | 19:42 |
xu-help69w | OK, I will try to stop and reboot. Hopefully, Grub is still OK | 19:50 |
brainwash | jjbuggle: you can do that in detailed list view too, but not from the Name column (fixed in Xfce 4.16) | 19:54 |
xu-irc77w | re: xubuntu 20.04.1 on a Lenovo x201 laptop, triple-booted. I'm having to log in whenever the laptop is inactive for five or 10 minutes. I want to disable that so it does not require me to continually have to log back in with the password. My other linux machines don't seem to have this problem. I tried using the XFCE power manager but no matter | 20:00 |
xu-irc77w | what the settings, it has no affect. I turned off all power management. I even set the XFCE power manager to NOT start at session startup. Still, the logins are required upon 5- to 10-minutes inactivity. So, something somewhere is over-riding the XFCE power manager. How to disable the auto "logoff or suspend" ??? | 20:00 |
brainwash | xu-irc77w: maybe you just have to disable xfce4-screensaver (which acts as screen locker) | 20:02 |
xu-irc77w | thanks. Never thought of that. I'll try... | 20:03 |
xu-irc77w | That must be it. It was set to five minutes. thanks again... | 20:03 |
brainwash | xu-irc77w: :) | 20:06 |

cartman | Hey folks, I'm installing Xubuntu 20.04 on top of a Ubuntu 18.04; I'm on the final installation screen (the blue one, that give a link to this IRC channel). It's been running for like 30 mins and I have no logs or anything to tell me if there are an issue. Any idea? Where can I read the logs of the installer to see what it's doing? Cheers | 20:39 |
brainwash | cartman: /var/log/ | 20:47 |
cartman | brainwash: thanks for the reminder hehe | 20:53 |
cartman | IPDL protocol error: Handler returned error code! | 20:54 |
cartman | ###!!! [Parent][DispatchAsyncMessage] Error: PMessagePort::Msg_PostMessages Processing error: message was deserialized, but the handler returned false (indicating failure) | 20:54 |
cartman | I believe this is bad :) - any idea? Just re-doing from scratch? | 20:54 |
