[00:54] Finally proposed is unblocked, so plasma 5.21.0 and fw 5.79 will be on next iso build 😀 [02:04] @RikMills, That's great news [02:04] btw I'm doing the fw thing I didn't have time yet to do [02:05] a bit late but I guess the packages could take a bit to migrate [10:22] @Santa, all done now, so no worries [10:22] updated https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Live_Images#Ships_Plasma_5.21 [11:07] not sure if this is anything; neon user asked on askubu (off-topic) about https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/kup-backup which has a recommends for 'bup', user says it's required.. I've not used software, but is there an issue with a 'recommends' and it doesn't exist (dropped as it was dep python2.7) [11:37] so 2021-02-20 05:43 should have 5.21 and FW 5.79? [11:38] yes [11:41] TY. zsyncing. I should be able to sanity-check today. [12:23] I noticed that the daily ISO loads a GRUB menu where I can see the OEM option. Much nicer than the old ISO where I had to keep mashing any key and then hit F4 (IIRC). [12:23] The live image is indeed 5.21 / 5.79 [12:26] However, the desktop in my VM appears solid black with no icon on it for Installing Kubuntu (did we default to Kwin-Wayland?). No crisis, as the live session user can type install in the application launcher or in krunner. [12:28] My region came up as Antigua. When I changed it to United States, I could not select my time zone. [12:30] mparillo: in my VM https://i.imgur.com/PwF06wc.png [12:32] So maybe something strange in my Hardware, my Win10 host, or VMware. [12:33] Clicking on the links in the slideshow still does nothing, but otherwise the install seemed successful. Re-booting my VM. [12:35] Everything seems good on re-boot. Discover prompted me to update, which is proceeding. I noticed that we install ksysguard. Did I read somewhere there was a new system monitor? [12:35] Ahh, we get both [12:37] the new one depends on ksysguard, which is annoying [12:38] My vote: Put the new System Monitor in Favorites, leave the old ksysguard only under System in Application Launcher. [12:38] hmmmm [12:39] And they both have the same icon in the Icons-only Task Manager [12:41] Libre Office looks better and better. I wish K^HCalligra kept improving. [12:41] So big thanks to you and Santa. [12:42] (Photo, 785x285) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/tw91cuWe/file_41777.jpg [12:42] mparillo: I guess that is the timezone issue ^^ [12:43] The funny thing, is once installed, it guessed my time (Eastern). [12:44] I think the guessing is ok, but it can't return it to the UI in a form it can read [12:46] mparillo: can you report a bug? if you don't have the time, no worries [13:11] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1916331 [13:11] Launchpad bug 1916331 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "Cannot Select TimeZone at Install Time (Kubuntu)" [Undecided,New] [13:19] Howdy folks [13:22] mparillo: thanks! [18:35] 5.21 has been impressive so far on my laptop. Thanks Rik and Santa for keeping Kubuntu alive! [18:38] * DarinMiller contemplating a do-release-upgrade -d on my main box now that the 5.10 kernel has landed... [19:47] @DarinMiller https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/WaylandByDefaultForPlasma [19:47] Which is April release I think [19:49] Interesting, I am told a fedora dev might be wanting to talk to us about some collaboration, but I don't know what about. Perhaps it might be that as we have the same(ish) release month. [19:50] I had not seen that website, but I have heard rumblings for "non-nvidia" consideration. But looks like Fedora is going hook, line and sinker... [19:52] (Document) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/m8lLAHl5/file_41797.mp4 [19:53] Gotta be careful what you catch! [19:53] 😀 [19:54] We don't have a 'bigger boat' :P [21:09] Desktop upgrade to 21.04 on my desktop was very smooth. And I booted into wayland from my Nvdia desktop with proprietary drivers enabled for the 1st time ever. :) [21:51] Wayland Nvidia? [21:51] (Document) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/qCLI14K2/file_41802.mp4 [21:55] Yes, Wayland NVidia..... but no go.. Lots of rough edges still. Wine games do not run-including proton based games. Dual display scaling is still a bit quirky as is adjusting panel sizes in wayland mode. [21:56] Found enough paper cuts in the 1st three minutes to push me back to X. [22:02] To be expected honestly [22:12] I think I'll upgrade my travel lappy soon [22:12] no nvidia issues in that one [22:22] I've managed to survive on wayland for more than a month, using amdgpu free
