Why let people unknowingly use tracking apps when better alternatives are available? Esp.before they get so used to one tool that the change becomes more difficult. 😉00:00

ubptgbot<Fuseteam> @saligari [Also, how do I call morph browser from the terminal? morph-browser https... does …], apps ae launced differently on ubuntu touch due to the confinement model10:52

ubptgbot<Javacookies> morph is deb though so I would guess it can be launched like usual in the terminal10:54
ubptgbot<Javacookies> not sure about passing a URL though10:54
ubptgbot<TronFortyTwo> @saligari [Also, how do I call morph browser from the terminal? morph-browser https... does …], ```ubuntu-app-launch morph-browser```11:18
ubptgbot<TronFortyTwo> ubuntu-app-launch is IIRC the command that launches all ubuntu touch apps, deb and click ones. It does more than calling the executable; it also sets the environment for the app11:21
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> @TronFortyTwo [ubuntu-app-launch morph-browser], can confirm11:59

ubptgbot<mateosalta> @saligari [Thanks <3. I'd like to set a cronjob to open a URL of an online radio to have as …], url dispatcher will launch a url, but you would probally have to write your own daemon to make an alarm?15:00
ubptgbot<mateosalta> would be a cool alarm app feature15:01
ubptgbot<mateosalta> alarm app launches, would be intresting15:02

ubptgbot<saligari> @Fuseteam [cronjobs aren't really supported either, sounds like a nice app idea tho :3], Whaaaat15:11
ubptgbot<dohbee> @saligari [Whaaaat], ubuntu touch is not a traditional linux distro, and phones are not traditional personal computers15:13
ubptgbot<dohbee> @mateosalta [would be a nice way to scedule some things, like users wanted to do with cron :)], if wishes were fishes, i'd be swimming in riches15:14
ubptgbot<fredldotme> Scheduling thing should be easier when systemd is in, assuming it reads timers from the user directory instead of read-only storage.15:16
ubptgbot<dohbee> after systemd we can maybe create a click hook and apparmor profile for apps to provide things run in intervals15:17
ubptgbot<dohbee> and yes, one should be able to create their own timers in home dir15:17

ubptgbot<Flohack> @ShaikhZameer [I want use it], [Edit] You need to make a port. Its not an Android ROM15:27

ubptgbot<Fuseteam> @ShaikhZameer [Yes], well did you try to click that link?15:32
ubptgbot<UniversalSuperBox> @Fuseteam straying a little rude/direct15:33
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> wasn't my intention sorry15:34
ubptgbot<dohbee> our frustration is showing ;)15:34
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> kinda yeah, we have such an amazing devices page and people still ask "my device is not in the list, how do i install?"15:35
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> i suspected maybe the search field isn't obvious enough but that doesn't seem to be the full story15:36
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> It's incredible how the supported device list quickly ballooned up from 11 to 58, so that those of us who have been following this project will lilely feel there are lots of viable options for people to choose from. ubptgboto wish to extend greater life into the device they already own, and that many of these people are not able to afford a new device just to try out UT.17:35
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> uh yeah that isn't the issue discussion above, the issue is that people don't seem to read or understand what it means if a device is not on the list18:17
ubptgbot<dohbee> and they don't read group description or anything, so constantly having to repeat the URL and such :)18:19
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> repeating url is somewhat less frustrating than "my device is not on the list! what do do i?"18:20
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> [Edit] repeating the url is somewhat less frustrating than "my device is not on the list! what do do i?"18:20
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> considering the page answers that question18:21
ubptgbot<dohbee> yeah18:21
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> twice even 🤔18:21
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> Yeah, it's too bad we can't pin multilple messages to the top of this Group. I just keep a note that I can copy and paste the answer to the constant porting question.18:22
ubptgbot<dohbee> we can, but people don't read pins either18:23
ubptgbot<dohbee> and teleports maybe doesn't support the multiple pins stuff18:24
ubptgbot<dohbee> granted, people asking these questions probably aren't on teleports anyway18:24
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> @TotalSonic [Yeah, it's too bad we can't pin multilple messages to the top of this Group. I j …], we can and we do in the welcome group, you wouldn't believe how many people still ask18:25
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> People who asking this  same question are ususally brand new here and often have English as a second (or third) language too18:26
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> [Edit] People who are asking this  same question are ususally brand new here and often have English as a second (or third) language too18:26
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> you should the how elaborate one of the pinned messages is in the welcome group lol. but again i don't really mind pointing them to the pinned messages and or the device page18:27
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> tis the follow up that grows tedious sometimes, granted them not having understanding english well enough is a fair point18:28
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> (Photo, 353x199) https://irc.ubports.com/fNT3ydL0.png not sure if we can simply this much more tho18:31
ubptgbot<Chris Wyatt> Write a bot that auto-replies ;)18:31
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> maybe we should avoid the word port there 🤔18:31
ubptgbot<dohbee> maybe change it to Bring Ubuntu Touch to your device!18:32
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> ooooh i like that one18:33
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> looking back i think they also didn't notice the search field, maybe that should stand out a bit more too18:34
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> muahehehehe https://gitlab.com/XiaoFuse/devices.ubuntu-touch.io/-/jobs/1053683914 now if only gitlab would stop pending :p18:43
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> as i said that lol18:43
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> @dohbee [maybe change it to Bring Ubuntu Touch to your device!], Definitrly sounds more approachable than "porting"18:44
ubptgbot<klaartje_b> It sounds so approachable that I would think it's something I can probably do, and then I would be disappointed when it turns out that there is coding involved. But you can't please everybody...18:46
ubptgbot<Fuseteam> it much more understandable too tho, if our goal is to answer these questions :p18:47
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> @dohbee [maybe change it to Bring Ubuntu Touch to your device!], [Edit] Definitely sounds more approachable than "porting"18:49
ubptgbot<dohbee> @klaartje_b [It sounds so approachable that I would think it's something I can probably do, a …], there may not be coding involved, depending on the device. a lot of android ROM people only know how to build android, not code in C18:50

fretegivolla phone works in USA?18:58
ubptgbot<TotalSonic> @fretegi [volla phone works in USA?], Yes - but whether you can get calls, text and mobile data depends on your carriers and your area. Here in Central TX I can get calls and text with T-mobile, but mobile data is limited to 2G. With AT&T I can get 4G/LTE and text, but no calls (because they are only using VoLTE for calls at this point19:05
ubptgbot, which UT does not support yet).  So I had to go to using dual sim to get it all.19:05
fretegiah, gotcha.. see he VoLTE is the part that confuses me.. I am on Verizon, which as far as i know if VoLTE.   I can receive calls but no MMS or cell data.  also the moment i attempt to make a call i lose the ability to recieve.  Now this is on an android 9 based phone so hoping its just the known bugs.  maybe OTA-16 fixes19:07
