BrianHechinger[mOk, interesting issue, OvenWerks with studio-controls. It's been open for a while (so don't know if that's related) and I decided to change my buffer size setting. Hit apply changes and jack didn't stop. Hit Stop Jack and jack doesn't stop. Going to restart controls and see if that fixes it.13:27
BrianHechinger[myes, that fixed it13:29
Eickmeyer[m]Brian Hechinger: That's because buffer size change shouldn't require a restart of jack.15:58
OvenWerksEickmeyer[m]: yes it does16:14
Eickmeyer[m]It didn't used to...16:15
BrianHechinger[meven if it doesn't that wasn't the issue16:15
BrianHechinger[mstudio-controls was wedged16:15
OvenWerksEickmeyer[m]: buffer size can be changed without restarting jack, but the reality is that almost every jack client around (including zita-ajbridge) chokes on a buffer size change16:16
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: that would be autojack, the backend of studio-controls16:17
Eickmeyer[m]OvenWerks: Ok, that makes sense.16:18
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: which version of studio-controls are you using? (it should be at the top of the screen)16:18
BrianHechinger[mOvenWerks: 2.1.216:18
BrianHechinger[mwould restarting studio-controls touch autojack?16:18
OvenWerksEickmeyer[m]: have you packaged 2.1.4?16:21
Eickmeyer[m]OvenWerks: Yep, it's in hirsute and backported.16:21
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: if autojack is hung yes16:21
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: when studio-controls first starts it pings autojack if it gets no reply, then the first time it tries to communicate with autojack it starts a new one. the new one looks for old pids and kill -9 them.16:24
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: if you can get it to happen again... I would like to get some info... from the system tweaks tab, if you could set logging level to Extra. (before the problem happens) and send me the logfile ( ~/.log/autojack.log).16:38
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: you can do this by with the line: cat ~/.log/autojack.log |pastebinit16:39
OvenWerksAnd post the url here16:40
BrianHechinger[mOk, I've set the logging to Extra, I'll let you know if it happens again.16:40
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: of course upgrading to 1.2.4 would be good too 16:42
BrianHechinger[mupgrading what to 1.2.4? or did you typo 2.1.4? :-D16:45
OvenWerks:)16:47
BrianHechinger[mhow do I upgrade to 2.1.4?16:48
OvenWerksjabbering in the back ground  :P16:48
Eickmeyer[m]Brian Hechinger: It should be available through normal updates if you have the backports PPA enabled.16:48
OvenWerksopen ubuntustudio-installer and click on enable backports PPA16:49
OvenWerksthe update should show in the normal way software updates16:50
BrianHechinger[mI have backports, let me do an apt update16:54
BrianHechinger[mah ha, there it is!16:54
BrianHechinger[mI can't tell you how much I look forward to 22.04 so I can get LivePatch again. :)16:55
BrianHechinger[mOk, 2.1.4 installed16:57
BrianHechinger[mstill set to Extra for logging16:57
BrianHechinger[mif anything happens I'll let you know16:57
BrianHechinger[mAlso, no need to cat the logfile to pastebinit, it'll take it as an argument: pastebinit ~/.log/autojack.log16:57
Eickmeyer[m]I just did something meta: "man pastebinit | pastebinit": https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/r4v2RxpcKc/17:05
BrianHechinger[mhahaha, nice17:07
OvenWerksBrianHechinger[m: Thanks for the info, I have never looked at the docs for pastebinit17:20
BrianHechinger[mI'm sure I haven't either. :)17:21
BrianHechinger[mI just naturally assume all tools are sane. Sometimes I'm right.17:21
RikMillsEickmeyer[m]: your seed and meta has plasma-discover-snap-backend which is a now NBS. should be changed to plasma-discover-backend-snap22:46
RikMillshttps://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/nbs.html22:46
Eickmeyer[m]RikMills: Ok, will do. Thanks! :)22:47
