BrianHechinger[m | Ugh, Ardour is being weird when I split it in carla. As soon as I split it all the connections disappear and connecting to other things stops working reliably. Sometimes it'll connect, other times not. Ardour 5.12 is what's installed. | 13:13 |

BrianHechinger[m | Hmm, I think I'll take this chance to get 6.0 | 13:15 |
BrianHechinger[m | Well, that "solves" that problem | 13:17 |
BrianHechinger[m | no need to split anymore. | 13:17 |
BrianHechinger[m | but no audio. Hmmm. Well, I have work to do so I'll mess with that later. | 13:34 |
JonyPooh | Hi, I'm running Ubuntu Studio 20.10 and using the KDE 5 Plasma desktop that it comes with. In Notifications; Application Settings, configure events, there is an option for Speech, but I can't seem to get it to work. Does anyone know anything about speech in Ubunutu Studio 20.10 / KDE 5 Plasma? | 16:13 |
OvenWerks | JonyPooh: that would be a good question to ask in #kubuntu. There are more people there and more people likely to have played with that part of things | 16:28 |
OvenWerks | JonyPooh: ubuntustudio is kubuntu with some tweaks and media production software preinstalled | 16:28 |
JonyPooh | OvenWerks, thank you, I had actually wondered if that might be a good chan to ask in. Thanks. | 16:29 |
OvenWerks | JonyPooh: one thing I should ask I guess, is if you have jack running when you tried speach | 16:34 |
OvenWerks | if so try without jack running first. | 16:34 |
JonyPooh | OvenWerks, i do have Jack working mostly. I do have to do pulseaudio kill the first time I boot up, because Jack likes to start at boot some reason, but I have it turned off. Everytime I boot up I end up pulseaudio kill, then i stop and start and stop jack, and everythings working :-) | 16:37 |
JonyPooh | but, yeah, ive only tested this with jack off, but i have jack setup to start a pulseaudio output sink and tear it down when it stops | 16:38 |
OvenWerks | studio-controls should do all that for you. If you use studio-controls to start jack, the next time you boot jack will run from boot. If you stop jack from studio-controls, jack will not start at boot | 16:47 |
OvenWerks | JonyPooh: ^^ | 16:47 |
OvenWerks | JonyPooh: also, for pulse to work while jack is running, there must be a pulse-jack bridge running (controls does this by default) | 16:48 |
OvenWerks | if that does not work make sure you have the latest studio-controls (enable the backport PPA in ubuntustudio-installer) | 16:49 |
OvenWerks | (there have been some bugs in that area) | 16:49 |
