kirvesAxeHow do I open the boot menu on Kubuntu 20.04? shift does nothing, esc just goes to BIOS, changing GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE in /etc/default/grub from "hidden" to "menu" or "countdown" (followed by update-grub) doesn't work.11:31
alkisgTry with: sudo -i; mkdir -p /etc/default/grub.d; echo 'GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=""' > /etc/default/grub.d/local.cfg; update-grub; reboot11:37
kirvesAxealkisg, nope, still goes directly from manufacturer's splash to kubuntu splash11:55
alkisgkirvesAxe: are you in bios or uefi mode?  ls /sys/firmware/efi => is that dir there?11:58
kirvesAxealkisg, yes it is, I assume it is UEFI12:08

IrcsomeBot<nethical> Can i run Kubuntu on my samsung SAMSUNG RV510 Notebook Model  … The specs are as follows-  … Ram - `3gb` … Processor - `Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500  @2.30Ghz    2.30 Ghz` … System Type - `32 Bit Os , x64 based-processor` … Current os - `Windoze 8.1 32bit` … Pen and Touch - None … Please help!  I want to upgrade My os because i am unable to run someApps on my pc . 🥺13:11
BluesKaj3GB Ram isn't enough to run kubuntu without it being slow to respond and the latest Kubuntu OSs aren't available with 32 bit, best bet is to run ubuntu with the mate desktop or xubuntu OS13:16
IrcsomeBot<nethical> @BluesKaj, i have a 64 bit supported processor  … But seems like 3gb ram isnt enough 🥺13:17
Maik@nethical try it from a live session from usb stick and find out if it works. But... i'd upgrade the RAM if possible.13:17

GSMarquisIs there another way to get opencl support on Kubuntu with AMD 580 other than AMD-pro drivers?17:27
xnat834-MHas anyone tried to connect to a Wifi hotspot from a Windows 10 device?20:58
xnat834-MI turned on the hotspot and my Android 10 device connects flawlessly20:59
xnat834-MBut my Windows 10 device asks for a "PIN", not even a regular Wifi password20:59
xnat834-MI don't know why that is, but I found topics online where the same problem was described.20:59
xnat834-MI have to use USB tethering with my phone to my Windows 10 device due to that problem and it's horrible21:00
geniiIs your phone running Kubuntu?21:01
genii( since this is the Kubuntu support channel )21:01
xnat834-MNo, my notebook is running Kubuntu 20.10, I also had the problem with 20.04: Notebook with Kubuntu 20.10 starts a hotspot, Android 10 client (phone) can connect, Windows 10 client (other notebook) asks to input a "PIN" and it I click to insert a password instead, it still can't connect.21:11
xnat834-Mif*21:12
xnat834-MThe Windows 10 client can connect to my router and other Wifi APs21:12
xnat834-MAnd it never asks for a "PIN"21:12
xnat834-MA bit like this issue: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41974521:12
ubottuKDE bug 419745 in kcm_networkmanagement "WiFi hotspot with WPA/WPA2 Personal security doesn't work with Windows 10 client" [Normal,Unconfirmed]21:13

xnat834-MIf anyone has the same problem with some clients not being able to connect to your Wifi hotspot if you create it in the network manager GUI, using "create_ap" worked for me: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/626619/ubuntu-20-04-lts-wifi-hotspot-not-working22:09
xnat834-MSo, the default hotspot functionality is definitely the issue here22:09
xnat834-MWith "create_ap", all clients can connect to my Kubuntu 20.10 while some can't with the integrated function.22:10
