BluesKaj | Hi folks | 12:11 |
---|---|---|
The_LoudSpeaker | hey! can I know which app does Kubuntu/KDE uses to install fonts? like what opens up when someone double clicks a .ttf or .otf file? | 13:58 |
The_LoudSpeaker | noticed Lubuntu doesn't have that feature yet. maybe we could use the same qt app if possible. | 13:59 |
Mamarok | running Hirsute now, I am unable to launch Plasma (or any other desktop) as SDDM doesn't start with the 5.10-x kernel. Message is that Qt plugins can't be loaded. Works in the 5.8.-x kernels | 15:36 |
Mamarok | any tweak I need to do, kernel module that should be loaded manually? | 15:36 |
RikMills | The_LoudSpeaker: kfontview, part of plasma-workspace, so can't be added | 15:39 |
RikMills | to your seed | 15:39 |
The_LoudSpeaker | RikMills: okay. Thanks for the info. Will have to look up another app / create new one then. | 15:40 |
RikMills | Mamarok: that is weird | 15:40 |
Mamarok | indeed, it very shortly started and I could run the Budgie Desktop that was on this laptop when I bought it, but that was just once, on every try I end up with a black screen | 15:42 |
Mamarok | other than that, it runs very smoothly on the older kernel, curreently 5.8.0-44 | 15:45 |
RikMills | I'll try to chack in a bit. have not updated for some time | 15:46 |
RikMills | *check | 15:46 |
Mamarok | apparently it is the Qt plugins vor xcb, needed to run SDDM | 15:48 |
RikMills | that is a quite common error which can just mean some envars are not set | 15:50 |
RikMills | I have not heard any bug reports | 15:53 |
RikMills | Mamarok: I am pleased to say that I can get to sddm and log in to plasma in a fully up to date hirsute | 16:09 |
Mamarok | good, I'll try again later | 16:47 |
IrcsomeBot | <DarinMiller> 21.04 is running fine here on 3 different system using the 5.10 kernel (2 NVidia boxes and one Intel box). | 20:32 |
IrcsomeBot | <RikMills> (Document) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/U595W0Dk/file_42264.mp4 | 20:35 |
wxl | i'm on 18.04 at work and i just noticed a weird quirk. wondering if i should write a bug report. default shortcut for application launcher is listed as alt-f1, which indeed does work, but so does meta. i can't actually set meta as a shortcut. if i set it to other shortcuts, meta still does its thing, so it doesn't seem to be specific to the alt-f1 | 21:57 |
wxl | oh i should also add that removing the shortcut altogether stops meta from triggering the menu. | 22:36 |
