jjbuggle2nd display question:  it looks like I can only extend my 2nd display to the right, and not to the left.  If I set it on the left, it seems to use it as the primary display, even though my laptop is marked as the primary.  Any suggestions?  (if not, I'm just going to leave it set to the right, even though it is on my left, and suffer through the mental gymnastics.)01:57
tomreynyou didn't say which graphics chipset you have, but it might be this bug 187389502:13
ubottubug 1873895 in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu (Ubuntu) "Regression: block staircase display with side-by-side monitors of different pixel widths" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/187389502:13
jjbugglethanks tomreyn.  I02:31
jjbuggle'm experiecing more what is described here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/159675102:31
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1596751 in xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) "xfce-panel does not honor "primary display" setting" [Undecided,Confirmed]02:31
tomreyn<jjbuggle> [..] It says fix released, but its clearly not working02:33
tomreynfix released for two affected packages, not the third02:33
tomreynwithout having read the full bug report, it's still an (unfixed) issue in xfce4-settings02:34
jjbuggletomreyn: fwiw, you were absolutely correct, that this is an xubuntu issue.  Also, the bug report says it is not working because I just updated it.  I'm chogydan.  Hopefully someone wiser about xfce4 will know what to do with it.02:37
tomreynjjbuggle: and your system is fully uptodate?02:39
tomreyn!uptodate02:39
ubottuTo ensure you have all the latest known patches and security updates for your ubuntu installation, please update with the following command: `sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade`. See also !upgrades and !security; you may also need to run `apt full-upgrade`.02:39
jjbuggletomreyn: heh, I happen to have updated a couple days ago, so yes, atm.  (I checked)02:41
tomreynokay, i'm just making sure you won't get hit with a crow bar for reopening this bug report. generally, espcially if the previous report was originally about a different (x)ubuntu release, it's bets to file a new one, if just to point out this still affects the supported release you're running. and then add a link to the previous report on the text.02:43
tomreynanother way to achieve similar is to add some tags ("Add tags" below the original bug report). in your case that'd be (affects) "focal" (20.04), IIRC.02:45
jjbuggleooooook.  I can do that.  But, tomreyn, which do you suggest?  Add a tag?  Or file a new bug?02:49
jjbuggleor both?02:50
qihHi all, I installed Xubuntu Latest over the weekend and it all went well. There was/is only one issue: I chose 'ZFS' as the partition format and it stated this was a whole disk install. Can I do the install and force it to not use the whole disk with 'ZFS'?07:04
guivercqih, try "Something else" and manually setup what you want07:23
qihguiverc: OK, so I can partition as much as I want and still use ZFS? Great.07:24
guivercqih, I suggested 'try' as I don't have a xubuntu thumb-drive handy to test it's available, but it's where I'd look for what you asked for07:28
qihOK thank you, will do that.07:32
guivercqih, I don't see ZFS on "Something else" on a hirsite QA-install so what I suggested won't likely help08:56
qihguiverc: You are quite correct, haha. So EXT4 it is.09:42
qihAnyway, my use case is not 'needing' ZFS so I will be OK thanks anyway.09:43
guivercyou're most welcome09:43
