[20:37] @DD1 [I understand work has to be compensated for but selling this at 360 eur...I dont …], 360 eur is about average for a good phone tbh [20:38] @amyosx [360 eur is about average for a good phone tbh], Umm you can get better phones for less? [20:38] Xiaomi Note 10 Pro? [20:38] Or the Zenfone 7 comes around 400 [20:38] Not sure if it even was the pro [20:38] BUt still much better lol [20:39] true, but see what I wrote, you're comparing apples to oranges [20:39] @amyosx [360 eur is about average for a good phone tbh], You said 360 eur is for a average good phone lol [20:40] How is that Gigaset model even nearly as good as these? [20:40] I meant average price [20:40] I bet even a Samsung Galaxy S7 beats it [20:40] And you are paying for a completely different product [20:40] So why not flash it with UBPorts? [20:40] [Edit] So why not flash it with UB? [20:40] Not made by a multi billion dollar company lol [20:41] Like seriously, who the hell buys these? i am not trying to shittalk UB, I was interested that there could be a seperate OS but seriously 360 EUR for this thing? [20:41] Ask the many who bought one [20:42] If your talking purely cost based pinephone exists [20:43] @DD1 [So why not flash it with UB?], check https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ for devices that can be flashed with UB [20:44] waiting for it to load on virgin media is fun [20:45] @amyosx [Ask the many who bought one], Do we know how many pieces were produced and sold? [20:46] i dont know personally those numbers [20:46] As I expected. [20:47] ill go find some numbers brb [20:48] also remember no one is forcing you to buy a phone from this one company who is funding development for 2 operating systems btw [20:48] @DD1 [Like seriously, who the hell buys these? i am not trying to shittalk UB, I was i …], There are quite some users. Mostly happy users from what I hear. And part of the money is for the OS. Consider all your private data as part of the price for Android/Apple phones. So... [20:48] @amyosx [also remember no one is forcing you to buy a phone from this one company who is …], Holy shit what kind of whatbaoutism is this? [20:49] watch your language pls [20:49] ... [20:49] there are some basic rules around here [20:49] @UniversalSuperBox [To my understanding, selling phones on lease or on contract is far more common i …], Extremely common in the UK. [20:50] @DD1 [Holy shit what kind of whatbaoutism is this?], you seem to be rather hostile while we try to explain honestly why [20:50] i dont know anyone who has in the past 3 years or so [20:51] Just for some numbers, ut volla group has got 85 members, volla community group has got a few short to 600 members. [20:51] @NotKit [you seem to be rather hostile while we try to explain honestly why], I mean seriously you guys shill about stock being sold out without knowing how many were produced and sold in the first place let alone that paying 120 for a OS isnt exactly fair pricing at (based off that the other gigaset model is like 240) [20:51] That might not make up the number of devices though. [20:52] I like that there is a new OS I joined this group a few months ago. [20:52] @DD1 [I mean seriously you guys shill about stock being sold out without knowing how m …], every company has to have a markup just to survive lol [20:52] And yet I wont just be like "OH BUT THIS IS WITH ANOTHER OS 360 IS COMPLETELY FINE" [20:52] @DD1 [I mean seriously you guys shill about stock being sold out without knowing how m …], And you complain about the price of a phone. Just don't buy it. [20:52] @Danfro [And you complain about the price of a phone. Just don't buy it.], I asked about the numbers that were sold and he came like "oh well you dont have to buy it." [20:53] Just dont shill [20:53] No, you keep complaining about how much that phone is overpriced. [20:53] Be real about it and its fine. Im not going to buy it, can custom rom or get UB on the Phone but its not worth the money. Gigaset Phones arent any good afaik [20:53] Also who tells you that your data wont get sold anyway or that UB will sell data at some point? [20:53] Fine. Any other questions you have? [20:54] @DD1 [Also who tells you that your data wont get sold anyway or that UB will sell data …], you can't sell data if there is no data :) [20:54] @NotKit [you can't sell data if there is no data :)], So you think they cant sell any data? Also do you get around all the trackers etc? [20:55] Also what is the Update-Support like? [20:55] since Ubuntu Touch is a community project, we know which information is sent to the network [20:55] Also policies change, every company does it. So UB might as well change their policies and collect data anyway [20:55] @DD1 [So you think they cant sell any data? Also do you get around all the trackers et …], ubports has no trackers in the os or the default apps [20:55] UB is not a commercial commany [20:55] @amyosx [ubports has no trackers in the os or the default apps], Websites [20:55] @DD1 [Also policies change, every company does it. So UB might as well change their po …], but why would we? [20:55] UT for instance has got no apps running in background. Exceptions you have to allow yourself. It is all open source so you can check the code. [20:56] [Edit] UB is not a commercial commany, it's a non-profit foundation [20:56] @DD1 [Websites], As much as on any other phone and os. You are your own boss there and responsible on how and where you surf. [20:57] @Fuseteam [you just have to get your public key on your device somehow], already, using old notebook with mint … i executed cat id_rsa.pub >> .ssh/authorized_keys but when i try connect i see permission denied again [20:58] @TotalSonic [The Volla Phone hardware performs excellently with UT, the only thing I find med …], I've found the selfie camera to be far and away the best I've ever used, but then I've never specifically made this feature a priority in my hardware purchasing decisions. I guess that is for which distance it is focused (fixed focus). [21:00] Has volla phone got a focus for that? Or also fixed focus? At least their main cameras are usually really good [21:00] UT. [21:00] @DD1 [Linux etc is completely fine], it is a question or a statement? [21:01] @TheBakerCat [it is a question or a statement?], Statement [21:01] Xperias main camera is quite good. No great deal at low light, but very good daylight images. [21:01] Its a good is for general use just not for gaming cos of lack of support ( i mean quite a few works but a lot don't) [21:02] @TartanSpartan [I've found the selfie camera to be far and away the best I've ever used (easily …], hmmm, I am currently limited to 4megapixels for the selfie camera, where as I can get 15.9megapixels for the rear camera on the Volla. [21:04] @Danfro [Has volla phone got a focus for that? Or also fixed focus?], Focus is working well on selfie cam on Volla [21:04] Matty was added by: Matty [21:05] Good to know. I hardly use selfi cam, but when I used it, I was disappointed. [21:07] Hello ubports forum. I am matthias, from germany. I am using utouch on my oneplus one. [21:07] welcome :) [21:08] And don't get me wrong - I find the Volla cameras are certainly capable of taking very nice photos - my calling them "mediocre" is just relative to some of the Android phone options out in the past 3 years which have focused their hardware and software towards photography. But i didnt find where i could find the correct poeple that made unav. [21:11] @amyosx [sadly a lot of the stuff hardware side is with proprietary firmware :(], Yup - also on Google's side they've allowed for a ton of software enhancement options that are processed near immediately from the raw output of the cameras on Android - so that they can get better looking pics from the get go using the same hardware. Mobile internet started working after leaving my Pro1 on for a while. … Mobile data works consistently if I dismiss the PIN-code pop-up right after boot.
