hierbabuenahello guys, new to the channel. I've made the quantum leap from lubuntu 16.04 to 20.04, but I'm facing small issues. The first one is related to the serial mouse (don't ask). Have tried every magic trick I could think of to make it work, including the creation of a systemd service script to call inputattach, to no avail. I have to invoke sudo inputattach --daemon --always -mmw /dev/ttyS0 manualy every time I log in.20:55
hierbabuenadmesg says the system automatically detects the mouse; Xorg.0.log does too but ignores it20:58
hierbabuenaIn fact the mouse works for a brief moment with sddm than freezes right after that.20:58
hierbabuenaappreciate anyone who could give me a clue21:00
wxlhierbabuena: you might want to grab e.g. xubuntu and boot it live and see if you have the same problems. if you do, it's probably a core issue and you can hnut around for answers with a wider audience than just lubuntu. if it doesn't reoccur there, perhaps it's a problem with sddm but that seems unlikely.21:02
hierbabuenatnx wxl, will try that21:13
whiplazhin a live session, will lubuntu activate TRIM if I mount an internal SSD drive (that supports TRIM)?23:50
whiplazhautomatically, that is23:51
wxldon't think so, no. especially given the warnings at the top here https://wiki.debian.org/SSDOptimization (btw i reference this because debian is *buntu's immediate upstream so generally what's true there is true here although that's not always the case)23:53
whiplazhok, thanks! :)23:55
wxlyep. lots of instructions there on how to do it, though, so that might be helpful. (as well as the other ssd optimizations)23:56
