MauritiusRayhello, using lubuntu lts focal Im trying to update qterminal to a higher version than my current 14.1.   I tried this: added ppa "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lubuntu-ci/stable-ci" and "sudo apt update"  I then see a 15 git version available but when I try to full upgrade it wont. so I try to upgrade only qterminal and it tells me it relies on09:54
MauritiusRaybroken dependancy :09:54
MauritiusRay"Dépend: libqtermwidget5-0 (>= 0.15.0) mais 0.14.1+git201910240002~focal-0ubuntu1~ppa1 devra être installé09:55
MauritiusRayE: Paquets défectueux"09:55
MauritiusRay(sorry my console is in french)09:55
MauritiusRayis there a better way / workaround ?09:56
kc2bez[m]MauritiusRay: It won't be possible to cherry pick specific packages like that, all the dependencies need to get installed too. That ppa is not intended to be used for production machines.10:13
MauritiusRayouch okay, so no way to get higher qterminal version while on LTS10:14
MauritiusRay?10:14
kc2bez[m]To get the new versions you would need to move to a newer release (e.g. 20.10 or in less than a month 21.04)10:14
MauritiusRaynot LTS so I'm left with something buggy until 22?10:16
MauritiusRay(drop down)10:16
MauritiusRayis there any as good or better qtbased terminal?10:17
MauritiusRayI tried CRT and love its look but has no tabs nor dropdown10:18
kc2bez[m]If there are bugs please report them. We may be able to apply patches to older versions depending on the issue.10:18
MauritiusRaythere s qlso little doc qbout the feature so im not sure its a bug10:19
MauritiusRay*also10:19
MauritiusRay*about10:19
kc2bez[m]If resources are not an issue konsole might be an option.10:21
MauritiusRaymy shortcut for dropdown terminal does not seem to work10:21
MauritiusRayressources are an issue, thatś why I picked lubuntu and lxqt10:22
MauritiusRayI sound like ranting but I'm not... this distribution is awesome. Im just inexperienced to setup my shortcut I guess10:23
kc2bez[m]So the drop-down terminal does not work with any shortcut? I think by default it is F1210:23
MauritiusRayAm I right assuming that any qt based program is always a better choice than not on lubuntu lxqt ?10:24
MauritiusRayI need F12 for my other app main tool10:25
MauritiusRayso I put something else10:25
kc2bez[m]Ah, got it. I am not sure I have tried that before.10:25
MauritiusRaythis does somewhat work but is the shortcut supposed to cycle the terminal between hidden and on?10:26
MauritiusRaybecause it seemed to open another10:26
kc2bez[m]it is good to stick with something qt but isn't absolutely necessary. If it uses another toolkit you will need to pull in more libraries.10:27
MauritiusRayindeed and I like the look and feel of qt bqsed so fqr10:28
MauritiusRayfar10:28
kc2bez[m]If the the shortcut you picked is used for something else it might cause strange results.10:28
MauritiusRaychecking right now10:28
MauritiusRayI found absolutely no clue to what the locker Icon does...10:30
MauritiusRaymy shortcut was the only one using that key. I set it back to F12 for better approaching my desired solution10:31
MauritiusRayso without lock it does hide back but brings a new one every time loosing my content10:33
MauritiusRayOr is a drop down terminal supposed to kill any current instance every time you hide it?10:36
kc2bez[m]I don't think it should, no.10:38
kc2bez[m]It doesn't seem to in my test VM.10:40
kc2bez[m]I can start htop and roll the terminal up and down and htop is still running.10:41
MauritiusRaywhat does the shortcut command look like  :  qterminal -d10:44
MauritiusRay?10:44
kc2bez[m]That is to initially start the dropdown I think. After that is should stay running.10:46
kc2bez[m]looks like `qterminal --drop` is the command in the desktop file.10:47
MauritiusRayim using the lubuntu preferences configurable shortcut are you not ?  once there the shortcut has to stay10:47
kc2bez[m]No, i don't think I set anything there. There is a setting in the qterminal preferences for the roll/up down feature.10:50
MauritiusRay--drop also works but exactly same result : bringing a new instance once out of two presses (second press does close)10:50
MauritiusRayah... ahhhh10:50
MauritiusRaytryin10:50
MauritiusRayit removes my shortcut :710:52
kc2bez[m]hmm, that is strange. So it changed it back to F12?10:54
MauritiusRayit makes it empty10:55
MauritiusRayif I put F12 it stays F12 but doesnt even work10:55
MauritiusRayalso the lock icon is  no longer there10:55
kc2bez[m]I have to go AFK for my drive to work. If you think you have a bug please file one or you can open up a thread on discourse.lubuntu.me where other folks can chime in too.10:58
MauritiusRaythanks so far11:00
MauritiusRayI lost too much time what I want to do is more complex: a drop down with a few vim tabs and a bash to launch esily every time.11:02
