=== tommy_ is now known as Guest99711 [09:54] hello, using lubuntu lts focal Im trying to update qterminal to a higher version than my current 14.1.   I tried this: added ppa "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lubuntu-ci/stable-ci" and "sudo apt update"  I then see a 15 git version available but when I try to full upgrade it wont. so I try to upgrade only qterminal and it tells me it relies on [09:54] broken dependancy : [09:55] "Dépend: libqtermwidget5-0 (>= 0.15.0) mais 0.14.1+git201910240002~focal-0ubuntu1~ppa1 devra être installé [09:55] E: Paquets défectueux" [09:55] (sorry my console is in french) [09:56] is there a better way / workaround ? [10:13] MauritiusRay: It won't be possible to cherry pick specific packages like that, all the dependencies need to get installed too. That ppa is not intended to be used for production machines. [10:14] ouch okay, so no way to get higher qterminal version while on LTS [10:14] ? [10:14] To get the new versions you would need to move to a newer release (e.g. 20.10 or in less than a month 21.04) [10:16] not LTS so I'm left with something buggy until 22? [10:16] (drop down) [10:17] is there any as good or better qtbased terminal? [10:18] I tried CRT and love its look but has no tabs nor dropdown [10:18] If there are bugs please report them. We may be able to apply patches to older versions depending on the issue. [10:19] there s qlso little doc qbout the feature so im not sure its a bug [10:19] *also [10:19] *about [10:21] If resources are not an issue konsole might be an option. [10:21] my shortcut for dropdown terminal does not seem to work [10:22] ressources are an issue, thatś why I picked lubuntu and lxqt [10:23] I sound like ranting but I'm not... this distribution is awesome. Im just inexperienced to setup my shortcut I guess [10:23] So the drop-down terminal does not work with any shortcut? I think by default it is F12 [10:24] Am I right assuming that any qt based program is always a better choice than not on lubuntu lxqt ? [10:25] I need F12 for my other app main tool [10:25] so I put something else [10:25] Ah, got it. I am not sure I have tried that before. [10:26] this does somewhat work but is the shortcut supposed to cycle the terminal between hidden and on? [10:26] because it seemed to open another [10:27] it is good to stick with something qt but isn't absolutely necessary. If it uses another toolkit you will need to pull in more libraries. [10:28] indeed and I like the look and feel of qt bqsed so fqr [10:28] far [10:28] If the the shortcut you picked is used for something else it might cause strange results. [10:28] checking right now [10:30] I found absolutely no clue to what the locker Icon does... [10:31] my shortcut was the only one using that key. I set it back to F12 for better approaching my desired solution [10:33] so without lock it does hide back but brings a new one every time loosing my content [10:36] Or is a drop down terminal supposed to kill any current instance every time you hide it? [10:38] I don't think it should, no. [10:40] It doesn't seem to in my test VM. [10:41] I can start htop and roll the terminal up and down and htop is still running. [10:44] what does the shortcut command look like  :  qterminal -d [10:44] ? [10:46] That is to initially start the dropdown I think. After that is should stay running. [10:47] looks like `qterminal --drop` is the command in the desktop file. [10:47] im using the lubuntu preferences configurable shortcut are you not ?  once there the shortcut has to stay [10:50] No, i don't think I set anything there. There is a setting in the qterminal preferences for the roll/up down feature. [10:50] --drop also works but exactly same result : bringing a new instance once out of two presses (second press does close) [10:50] ah... ahhhh [10:50] tryin [10:52] it removes my shortcut :7 [10:54] hmm, that is strange. So it changed it back to F12? [10:55] it makes it empty [10:55] if I put F12 it stays F12 but doesnt even work [10:55] also the lock icon is  no longer there [10:58] I have to go AFK for my drive to work. If you think you have a bug please file one or you can open up a thread on discourse.lubuntu.me where other folks can chime in too. [11:00] thanks so far [11:02] I lost too much time what I want to do is more complex: a drop down with a few vim tabs and a bash to launch esily every time. === BrianG61UK__ is now known as BrianG61UK_ === px is now known as Guest87974 === 895AAAARG is now known as msc68 === msc68 is now known as blucifer22 === acheronuk is now known as RikMills === finstern1s is now known as finsternis === acheronuk is now known as RikMills === Guest87974 is now known as px === lynp is now known as lynorian === yeti_ is now known as plasmid
