gimpnixonHey every one, wanted to bounce a couple questions off you about 21.0407:31
gimpnixonI am trying to figure out what process Settings>Accessibility>Zoom>Color Effects>Brightness is calling07:33

gimpnixonHello everyone10:45
gimpnixonI am trying to find the process function of Settings>Accessability>Focus>Color Effects>Brightness, My goal is to actuate the Brightness function via command line with out the Focus Option being activated, any suggestions greatly appreciated10:47
gimpnixona path to the brightness dir or the program called by focus to activate brightness setting would be perfect. for example for screen brightness i would go to /sys/class/backlight/brightness. Focus>Color Effects>Brightness is more of a gamma function and is exactly what I am after10:51
gimpnixonor if a dev or anyone knows the program called by the function, for example I used to use Redshift to gain the same functionality that Settings>accessability>Focus>Color Effects>Brightness, provides but appreciate the fact that it is now native to ubuntu 21.04 but cannot acuate the function properly when couples with the Focus Option.11:01
blue_penquingimpnixon:  Those aren't being done through cli programs; there's actual code to calculate;extract and apply the colour palatte. However you can use xrandr, xgamma or xcalib to achieve the same thing on X11.11:27
gimpnixon@blue_penquin you cannot use Xrander or xgamma or xcalib on native Wayland systems12:15
gimpnixoncould there be a way to get the exact color profile that efeects the "brightness" on the zoom profile then i guess and how could that be applied without activating the Zoom Option? I've been using Wayfire and Ubuntu with native wayland for a couple years now and was excited to see ubuntu try a native wayland again since they did previously. Settings>Accessability>Zoom>Color Effects>Brightness gives 12:19
gimpnixonthe exact functionality I am searhing for but I am at a loss of how to seperate that process from the Zooom Option and any more details that could get me closer to replicating the function sans Zoom would be appreciated12:20
gimpnixonam on 21.04 for native wayland.12:26
blue_penquinOn wayland there is wl_gamma (don't remember the exact name) a GTK app to control gamma but I don't know of anything cli; these should be managed by your shell/compositor etc. 12:31
gimpnixonI understand what you are saying , I am more interested I guess in expanding my knowledge of the native function of 21.04 and utilizing that, I appreciate your thoughts as well12:33
gimpnixonthe functionality exists inside 21.04, it can be produced with enabling the Zoom Option, i am wanting to understand the process in hopes to repeat the functionality without enabling Zoom. Thank you12:36
gimpnixon@blue_penquin there is also a good Git repo of redshift that provides wayland support my goal is stock functionality and I'm on the cusp, just searching on information regarding 21.04 12:39
blue_penquinIt's part of the GNOME Control Center; not something specific to Ubuntu 21.04 so if you are interested in learning how the code works ask In #control-center on GIMPNet. 12:48
gimpnixonOk, thank you, that is good information.12:49
gimpnixon@blue_penquin, sorry but can you help me understand GIMPnet? I have tried to connec ti geta name server error? i have only connectedto Freenode. #control-center is empty on freenode. would i /connect GIMPnet? to connect to GIMPnet?12:55
gimpnixonIt might seem like i'm fooling around with my name but name is not affiliated with Gimp net. i am my own proprietor12:57
blue_penquinIt is irc.gnome.org I think. I'm bridged through Matrix there https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch13:22
gimpnixon@blue_penquin , Thank you for the reply, sorry about the delay. appreciate the information17:19
