[00:43] I just bought a new laptop for testing the upcoming releases. It was such a good price that I figured I could spend that to give me some new hardware to test Lubuntu on. https://www.newegg.com/p/1TS-0016-01ZM4?Item=9SIA7ABDFR1475 So, that'll go straight into the 'testing' phase for making sure Lubuntu likes modern hardware. (I do not need an extra laptop.) So, this will be a more modern CPU and hardware to test on. The reality is that the price was just so good that I couldn't resist. It'll make a great Lubuntu test bed. [02:11] kgiii, if you do any installs; do you understand how we use https://phab.lubuntu.me/w/release-team/testing-checklist/ [02:12] you don't have to; you're very thoroughly testing the programs which takes a load more time than just simple installs :) [02:13] I plan only on live tests, but I do know how the install tests go. I like the live testing. I try to throw an hour at it every day, sometimes more. I like the live testing roll, if that makes sense? [02:13] Or 'mostly doing live tests' is more accurate. [02:14] I can fully appreciate that, I can also live-test on hardware i'm not willing to install to, allowing more hardware to be used for testing... [02:14] And s/roll/role/g [02:15] I open everything up, test it, make sure it's doing what it should, etc... I enjoy that role. I'm more than happy to install if needed, but I like the live testing. It takes longer, but it's enjoyable. [02:15] @Leokolb mostly has us covered for installs.. I'm helping there (installs) too.... Yeah I like live testing more myself.. [02:17] If it's needed, I can step up and do installation tests. Heck. I can even do them on bare metal and not virtual machines. So, if that is a needed service then just let me know and I'll step up to do more. [02:21] bare metal wins in my experience.. it's different hardware that can have issues with calamares. Even if bug isn't fixed; us hitting it allows us to find and provides a workaround that we can point to in support... [02:24] I only really have time for one of 'em per day. I can do the live test (which takes an hour or so to do it pretty thoroughly) or I can do an installation. Sometimes I could do both. I occasionally do a VM install after a VM live test, just to check the installer. [02:28] Personally I believe the live tests are more valuable to Lubuntu; given esp. Leo, but also I do installs.. the rare odd one (particularly on hardware) though is great/beneficial as you'll have different hardware [02:33] As the release is due soon, I can toss a few extra hours at testing. So, I'll check and see about doing some installs on bare metal. I have backups I can always restore, so it's just a matter of finding time. I'm not sure to be in the right place, I would like to propose a Lubuntu theme improvement [08:50] It's about Worldclock calendar : Week numbers in first column look like day numbers, as you can there : https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/3080387/112873765-5dff4e00-90c2-11eb-9aa3-c45bb4b7108d.png [08:51] it's very misleading when I'm quickly looking for first day of week. [08:53] right click on the clock -> configure world clock settings -> general tab, uncheck show week numbers. [08:53] Submit it upstream with LXQt, that's in their ballpark. Thanks for the suggestion though! [08:53] Ohhh [08:53] Wiser than I [08:53] I don't know about that 😂 [08:54] I could make it clear by changed background-color slightly in /usr/share/lxqt/themes/Lubuntu Arc/lxqt-panel.qss [08:54] CalendarWidget QTableView { [08:54]     background-color: rgb(56, 60, 74); [08:55] I've contacted them already, they are changing their themes [08:55] I'm talking about Lubuntu Arc theme [08:55] it's un lubuntu-artwork package [09:00] kc2bez[m] thank you for the tip, I prefer to keep the week numbers visible though [09:03] I understand now. That change makes sense at the first look. We should probably have bug filed against lubuntu-artwork and marked as wishlist. [21:17] Sorry, I'm not too prepared for a meeting. [21:18] Working on a beta announcement right now. [21:25] You need a Vice kc2bez to fill in for you when you're busy. Or a secretary to take care of the mundane tasks. If I spot a doppelganger, I'll let you know. [21:25] That sounds nice, I'd take a clone. [21:26] For the folks that have access to notes here is what I have https://notes.lubuntu.me/CH5RnBEbTGSc6MBoKAgSSA [21:27] I'll get that posted to https://lubuntu.me/blog soon. [21:28] I trust that testing is going well for folks. [21:29] [telegram] Yes the testing is going very well inddeed [21:30] Going just fine. As we are nearing release, I try to give it a full hour of testing every day. Well, there's no daily release today - yet. [21:30] I think they just turned them back on so we may not get a new one until tomorrow. [21:31] I really, really wish it had something like push notifications. I'd enable push notifications just for that - and I generally abhor all such notifications. [21:32] from -release [16:39:48] Ok, re-enabling daily builds and removing freeze block [21:35] Hmm... Even if it just pinged select usernames in chat, that'd work. [21:37] Yeah, we need to ring the dinner bell for the testers XD [21:40] beta release (notes) looks good kc2bez [21:40] Thanks guiverc [21:41] I think we need to switch our actual release notes to Discourse to keep up with the Joneses (sorry if my humor is lost there). [21:42] Seriously though it might be the better way to go. Then we can just have a brief announcement like this beta one on the blog pointing to Discourse. [21:44] It sounds like a bunch of hoops but I think it could allow for better visibility before release. [21:46] yeah reviewers/bloggers/youtubers do like something to read for beta etc... I like the official blog, but we gotta suit the 'younger' crowd [21:46] When it does get published, I'll share it elsewhere and see if it drums up any interest. [21:50] https://lubuntu.me/lubuntu-21-04-hirsute-hippo-beta-testing/ [21:55] :) thanks Dan / kc2bez [21:55] Sorry for my recent absence. [21:56] no need to apologize... [21:57] Are we gonna have a meeting, or does this count? [21:57] i got nothing to say ; am half asleep [21:57] This works for me. [21:58] If you have anything to add let me know. [22:00] i really appreciate your testing, support work etc kgiii, always appreciative of kc2bez's work, care & management... [22:00] @Leokolb is doing heaps of installs & majority of that testing [22:01] Our entire team is what makes it happen, I thank you all. [22:01] https://www.linux.org/threads/the-21-04-releases-ubuntu-and-official-flavors-will-soon-be-upon-us-and-its-testing-week.33845/ [22:02] I tend to just do the live testing. I probably shouldn't say 'just' as it's a pretty long test that I do every day. But, I like the live testing. It's fun to go through all the apps and check things out. [22:03] I'll sticky the above link for a day or two. We'll see if anyone decides they want to throw us a few extra hours. [22:04] thanks kgiii , it looks good [22:04] Thanks. I have no idea what kind of interest it will drum up, but we'll see. [22:08] https://twitter.com/LubuntuOfficial/status/1377744430527025153 [22:10] https://mastodon.technology/@lubuntu/105992349914021351 [22:11] Man, you need some sort of automated way to post once and have it propagate to all those other sites. [22:11] Twitter and Mastodon do that. [22:12] Tweets need to be sort of short. [22:12] Oh, good. WordPress will do a ton of social media sites if you install a few plugins. [22:13] I thought Twitter allowed long tweets now? (I don't actually have a Twitter account.) [22:13] They are longer but nothing like Mastodon. [22:14] Ah... I don't have a Facebook account or anything like that. I just don't feel like investing the time in those things. [22:14] I only have one more to do, the Telegram announcement. [22:15] I think we have Facebook but I don't really Facebook it. I have limits XD [22:20] https://t.me/LubuntuOfficial/71
