[15:47] <Maik> Ubuntu is the only one that will ship Wayland by default, the other official flavours will still use Xorg
[15:49] <blue_penquin> pikapika: It'll, hopfully sooner the better. Right now wayland is missing a lot of customisation and quirks that people used to to with various x* cli tools some of them have working alternatives; some of them won't have. 
[15:49] <blue_penquin> This is Due to A)not being developed, for example xmodmap B)delegated to the compositor which doesn't have a setting for example controlling scroll speed - gcc will provide that in the future. C) Wayland protocol doesn't allow for security reasons
[15:51] <pikapika> Maik, is Debian's policy regarding wayland known?
[15:51] <blue_penquin> And for your applications browser support wayland; FF is better in this regard; all GNOME apps support it; Qt supports it, electron 12 or greater does but it is right now a bit buggy and you can always use xwayland.

[15:56] <blue_penquin> Wayland experience on GNOME is better than KDE in my opinion although KDE is making good progress every week. And the other three major ones won't have wayland support anytime soon. 
[15:58] <Maik> Fedora uses Wayland by default for a long time, the more distro's use it the more reports users file the better development gets.
[15:58] <pikapika> Gnome has already gone down a dark path
[15:58] <pikapika> I worry more about XFCE falling
[15:59] <pikapika> Maik, the question is less one that of sufficient users reporting bugs, more that of their attitude regarding user reports
