[01:45] Hello [01:46] Is anyone there? [01:46] Hello? [01:48] Hello [01:48] Someone please chat [01:48] I don't know how to use this IRC [02:19] @viewer|8, 😂 [02:20] I successfully upgraded from 20.10 to 21.04 [02:56] Hey Everyone!! Need some bit of advice [02:56] Yes? [02:59] When you plug in a second monitor, you get a GUI to click either left, right or duplicate your screen its sometimes called Kubuntu screen switch. [02:59] What is the shortcut key or settings in setting you click to get this? [03:32] Sorry for the delay: super+P [05:18] doesn't kate have a TODO viewer? I remember reading it somewhere but I can't find it now [05:55] Good morning [05:59] morning [06:02] Morning bittin1 [06:34] hello! 21.04 hasn't been made available as upgrade from 20.10 yet, right? [06:35] @MsK`, no, available [06:36] strange. When I do do-release-upgrade -m desktop -f DistUpgradeViewKDE, "No new release found" [06:45] MsK`: There's often a delay before the upgrade endpoint reports a new version. That's up to Canonical, and AFAIK there's no public view into that decision process, other than that from past experience it seems to be anywhere from a matter of hours to a matter of days. [06:47] MsK`: You can generally force it anyways by using the --devel-release option for do-release-upgrade, since right now 21.04 will be seen as the current development release. Fair warning though, it's possible the upgrade notification has been delayed for a reason :D [06:49] keithzg, ok ^^ [06:50] truth is, since yesterday, I have several graphical glitches and I was thinking about reinstalling... so doing the upgrade might be an in-between... [06:51] I got the graphical glitches since I tried using optimus (nvidia double gpu for laptops) with primus-nvidia and something else. I uninstalled everything but it's still glitching like crazy :/ [06:51] and I did not find any error in the logs yet :/ [06:53] (sony vaio svs13a, i7 3520M, nvidia gt640m le + intel 3rd gen core) [06:58] (nouveau drivers) [07:07] https://lywenn.eu.org/bazar/glitch.mkv and it's not just firefox, it's any app, even the bottom desktop bar [07:10] MsK: is trying the proprietary drivers an option? [07:11] Ooof, that looks gnarly. Have you tested switching display servers, see if that resolving things? (ie. if you're currently using X11, try logging into a Wayland session instead). [07:11] "if that resolving things" oof clearly been a long day for me lol [07:15] IrcsomeBot1, well I'd like to use the intel gpu so "no" ? ^^ [07:15] Do you still have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf? [07:15] I just purged everything nvidia from the machine instead of just uninstalling. I'll try wayland if that doesn't work, thank you [07:15] no I don't [07:15] brb [07:16] hello [07:19] is there any1 who have succesfully installed and got battle.net working? [07:20] with playonlinux I did, yesterday [07:21] i am beginner with linux, installed it like week ago. :) [07:21] i got the bnet installed i think [07:21] but crashes after launch [07:23] sorry, after login it crashes [07:23] looks like the purge did it, I don't have any glitches yet [07:28] any guides how to fix this? [07:38] nevermind, still glitching... I'm trying wayland [07:41] I thought it was possible to switch to wayland from the login screen but I didn't find the option. How do you switch to wayland? [07:42] wayland? [07:44] oh, nevermind, I didn't have plasma-workspace-wayland installed, that must be it [07:49] right clicking with two fingers seems almost impossible with wayland :O [07:51] nevermind... a lot of settings seem to have been reset ._. [08:00] how do you invert mouse scroll with wayland? I changed the direction from the usual settings but it has effects in some apps and not others :| [08:21] it still glitches with wayland so it's not an X issue :| [08:21] glitches differently though [08:22] very unstable though [08:25] MsK`: another test that you could do would be to create another user and login with it, to see if the corrupted settings are user-specific or system-wide [08:25] ah, not a bad idea! [09:12] im testing wayland as well right now. some glitches i got as well... with middle mouse button paste from one window to the other... and some other issues... nomachine client does only forward one key stroke... then i have to tab out and in again beeing able to type exactly one key again :D [09:12] but its not terrible which is quite cool. [09:23] i found some packages that are not upgraded to the hirsuite version since its the same version as for 20.10. for example https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/qvYqtKckQP/ [09:24] TheBigK02: ouch, you should report this as an error [09:24] It does show up in https://packages.ubuntu.com/libjs-underscore [09:24] Groovy got a security update that didn't reach hirsuite? Very strange/bad [09:28] The changelog that mentions the security issue is at: http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/u/underscore/underscore_1.9.1~dfsg-1ubuntu0.20.10.1/changelog [09:28] And the bug tracker to report the issue is at: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/underscore/+bugs === alkisg1 is now known as alkisg [09:53] okay so there's this one thing that keeps bugging me - i installed kubuntu 20.10 and there seems to be no integration for ssh-agent in the default installation. this seems to have been reported against 19.04 so it's hard to believe there was no progress since then. am i missing something obvious here? there are "ssh-agent" processes running after i log in, but "ssh-add" fails with "Error [09:53] connecting to agent: No such file or directory". any help? [10:01] "journalctl --no-pager --user -u gpg-agent-ssh.socket" shows this in the output: "Apr 23 00:00:12 thing systemd[975]: Listening on GnuPG cryptographic agent (ssh-agent emulation)." [10:01] so my assumption is we have some weird way with systemd user sessions and gpg-agent that tries to emulate ssh-agent which is simply broken. [10:07] ok this looks like manually fixing it via /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90x11-common_ssh-agent or so is the thing to do, but this looks like a bug to me. [10:24] my desktop doesn't seem to glitch with the new account, interesting... I'm going to try and use more and more apps that I use on other ones to see if there's one that is breaking everything. Thanks for the suggestion! [10:30] ah! it just started glitching when I started battle.net! [10:30] but it just stopped glitching... it's very inconsistent :/ === Iamahuman is now known as Iamahuman4 [12:35] Hi folks [14:03] hi...my headset is only properly detected on boot...if I disconnect it and connect it again, it won't be detected and won't be available in the sound devices list [14:07] how do I force my kubuntu laptop to use hdmi as audio output instead of the internal speakers? Both the cable and the receiving device support it, yet kubuntu will only use the laptop‘s built-in speakers [14:08] is there some kind of sound manager where I can select such stuff? :/ [14:32] ah...."apt install --reinstall alsa-base alsa-utils pulseaudio linux-sound-base libasound2" worked out [14:39] hello === zhangzhonghan is now known as zhangzhonghan_ === zhangzhonghan_ is now known as zhangzhonghan [15:58] I think I just found the reason of most of the graphical glitches! flameshot, the tool to capture screenshots. I was having massive glitches, killed it and now I still have glitches but it's much more manageable! [15:58] this is so weird... [15:59] Does Spectacle also cause glitches? [16:00] I don't have that [16:09] I am pretty sure is ships with Kubuntu. Do you have an ancient version? [16:10] 20.10 [16:10] I may have removed it and don't remember? [16:10] anyway, flameshot made things worse but it's still glitching === Thomas is now known as Guest46543 === hggdh is now known as hggdh-msft === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life === dan is now known as Guest78218 === Guest78218 is now known as dan_ === kubuntu is now known as Guest83766 === lex is now known as Guest75076 [22:14] Hi !
