jwideaGood Morning, has anyone else been receiving an error “Err:5 http://ppa.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/ppa/ubuntu focal InRelease    403  Forbidden [IP: 91.189.95.85 80]”14:30
lubot[telegram] <teward001> jwidea: That PPA is disabled and is not providing packages anymore.  That's why you're getting a 403.14:31
lubot[telegram] <teward001> Remove the PPA from your system, and you'll be fine14:31
jwideaOk then.  I quite new at this linux OS thing. Found the settings Thank You.  just curious what happened to it, was this a planned removal?14:38
kc2bez[m]I don't think that ppa has had any packages in quite some time.14:39
lubot[telegram] <teward001> it didn't14:39
lubot[telegram] <teward001> last I see was for Xenial14:39
lubot[telegram] <teward001> so it was probably removed/disabled because of bitrot (staleness)14:40
lubot[telegram] <teward001> in either case just remove the PPA from your system and you'll be fine :)14:40
jwideaGreat info, didn't understand, But now I am the wiser. Thanks Again14:42
guivercjwidea, It hadn't been used in a long time, contained only really old packages no-one should be using (EOL releases) so it was disabled...   It's common for archives to be 'cleaned' when releases go EOL (end-of-life)  Xenial is the codename for 16.04; which reached EOL in 2019-April for Lubuntu (3 years from 2016-April release)14:44

LINUXUBUNTU-BRANNeed help. >> I have 2 OS on 2 different drives with GRUB Dual Boot WINDOWS ---- Ubuntu, Linux >>> I want to connect remotely to either/or vise versa doesnt matter thru which OS16:50
freebenchhi chaps, having here a lenovo laptop running lubuntu20:20
freebenchroot password is being lost. according to manual I try to follow a root pwd could be reset. For this a GRUB menu needs to be accessed first20:21
freebenchthe thing is that GRUB doesn't show up even for a couple of seconds20:22
freebenchas it typically does ...20:22
freebenchhow to make GRUB pop up20:22
freebenchI can see there is a boot partition ...  /boot/efi20:24
freebenchany advises?20:24
krytarikfreebench: I'd try with hitting Escape during the boot process.20:42
freebenchdidn't help20:59
kc2bez[m]What about holding shift?21:01
freebenchnope :(21:07
freebenchmaybe there is something in BIOS that prevents GRUB to show up21:14
freebenchIf I hit F12 during the boot, the Boot Menu  shows up listing ubuntu, debian, both of the disks and PCI LAN option21:17
freebenchsimilar to this https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn1.expertreviews.co.uk%2Fsites%2Fexpertreviews%2Ffiles%2F2015%2F08%2Fboot_menu.png%3Fitok%3DpuiPdZ7b&f=1&nofb=121:18
guivercfreebench, I do a device that is a pain to get grub to show (too quick I think, hit key early & it's ignored by uEFI.BIOS which removes key from buffer of box) & it's just repeated efforts that get SHIFT or ESC to get it to show.  A Lubuntu system won't have a 'root' password though by default (normal for all Ubuntu's to not use root; it's got an invalid password)22:31
