[00:36] hi === WrathOfA1hilles is now known as WrathOfAchilles === Mrokii_ is now known as Mrokii === carlos is now known as Guest14795 [06:21] Good morning [06:56] hello guys why kubuntu use old version of kde plasma, kubuntu 20.10 use plasma version 5.19 not 5.21 and other thing why kubuntu dont have user feedback in setting? [06:57] @erfan_sta, Use Kubuntu 21.04 [06:58] @ri5h46h, is it daily ubuntu version? [06:58] @erfan_sta, no [07:00] @ri5h46h, oh ok i check and other thing do you know why kubuntu dont have user feedback in system settings? [07:14] @erfan_sta Kubuntu uses that specific version of the desktop at the time it was developed and release. It's not KDE Neon. Plus buntu aims for stability, not having the latest and greatest. [07:14] !latest [07:14] Packages in Ubuntu may not be the latest. Ubuntu aims for stability, so "latest" may not be a good idea. Post-release updates are only considered if they are fixes for security vulnerabilities, high impact bug fixes, or unintrusive bug fixes with substantial benefit. See also !backports, !sru, and !ppa. [07:16] @erfan_sta also, 21.04 got just released at the 22nd of April [07:22] hello, do-release-upgrade still can't see 21.04. Is that expected behaviour ? [07:24] upgrade is blocked by canonical due a shim bug, it's a known issue which was mentioned in the release notes [07:24] MsK`: ^ [07:25] oh? I missed it! ok thanks [07:25] "Release Upgrades - Upgrades from Ubuntu 20.10 to Ubuntu 21.04 are not enabled as it is possible for some systems to end up in an unbootable state if they use EFI version 1.10 - bug 1925010. 719 Release upgrades will be enabled once an updated version of shim is available which is compatible with EFI version 1.10." [07:25] bug 1925010 in shim (Ubuntu Hirsute) "shim-signed 15.4 does not boot on EFI 1.10 systems" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1925010 [07:26] oh, in the release notes for ubuntu, not kubuntu, ok [07:26] Once they have a fix and it's working properly, they'll open the upgrade path [07:27] MsK`: the the kubuntu folks should mention it in their release note too. [07:27] the/then [07:29] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shim/+bug/1925010 looks like the bug as been fixed a few hours ago. The upgrade path should be open soon :) [07:29] Launchpad bug 1925010 in shim (Ubuntu Hirsute) "shim-signed 15.4 does not boot on EFI 1.10 systems" [High,In progress] [07:29] they won't open it that soon, they test it properly first [07:30] the fix has been out a few days already by the way [07:30] just be patient [07:46] hey all [07:46] i did an upgrade and now my instalation is broken? [07:47] my computer boots but kubuntu doesn't start my displays do not turn on (they get not signal) [07:47] now i disconnected all the screens except for 1 [07:47] and i see blackscreen with a cursor on it [07:47] that is vaguely blinking fast [07:49] I already made a live disk (usb) [07:55] Daulity: upgrade from 20.10 to 21.04? [07:56] if so you shouldn't have upgraded at all due this: "Release Upgrades - Upgrades from Ubuntu 20.10 to Ubuntu 21.04 are not enabled as it is possible for some systems to end up in an unbootable state if they use EFI version 1.10 - bug 1925010. 719 Release upgrades will be enabled once an updated version of shim is available which is compatible with EFI version 1.10." [07:59] anyway, got to work so i have no time left to help out [08:00] not sure i have enabled grub so it ways 10 seconds to see if that loads [08:00] Maik: I apreciate your help so far :) [08:07] so yea it's fixed [08:08] i used grub-customizer to enable the timeout [08:08] but that probably did something like a grub-update and now it works again :) [09:20] @Maik, i know but its not stable i had too many problem with kubuntu 20.04 so many glitch and bug that fixed in kde version 5.20 but i cant use that because kubuntu use old version and i tried kubuntu 20.10 that use kde 5.19 but it had bad bug its every time you change widget setting plasma getting restart for example widget Individual core usage [09:22] kubuntu go wrong way its not good i dont like kde neon because use two package manager and its hard to choose which one is good for installing package === ruimonteiro is now known as alf1975 [10:19] Whois is the administrator of the Channel ? [12:18] let's hope he doesn't start again then [14:55] so.... [14:55] kubuntu. You should have mentioned that users can't upgrade to 21.04 as of yet due the shim bug as was mention in the ubuntu release notes. [18:00] people keep asking why they can't upgrade..... === ruimonteiro is now known as alf1975 [18:09] Communicating updates has always been "challenging" due to the multiple levels where issues can arise (Base Canonical packages vs Kubuntu specific packages or both). If either package set has "sketchy" or untested .0 release, quite often packages are not advertised for upgrade until the .1 versions are available. [18:16] Well, the flavor release notes habitually refer to the main ones too, which is also what Kubuntu have done in this case - but yeah, it's not as obvious 1.) to check there and 2.) that anything might be up with the upgrade path. === amackenz is now known as atzanteol [19:37] Hi, I installed 20.04 on my Dell XPS 17 9700 and get no sound.
