IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> Hmmm, I have upgraded two systems this week to Hippo, but now when I run the upgrade command on another machine I get 'No new release found.' - ??03:22
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> Changing servers does not help either! Has the upgrade been taken down?03:37
Maik@Anarchotaoist upgrading from which release and what command do you use?03:45
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> Groovy to Hirsute of course with sudo do-release-upgrade -m desktop03:47
=== kubuntu is now known as Guest89496
Maikdo-release-upgrade should be sufficient03:47
Maiknot with the -m flag03:48
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> OK, I shall try that. Thanks.03:48
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> @Maik, No new release found04:02
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> 'pkexec do-release-upgrade -m desktop -f DistUpgradeViewKDE' does nothing either.04:42

IrcsomeBot<micha51> @micha51, Do anybody have any suggestions?08:42
IrcsomeBot<micha51> @micha51, Here's a screenshot08:42
tomreynmicha51: for us on the IRC end of this channel, it can be good to repeat your question every couple hours or days if it's left unanswered (but still on topic)09:30
tomreynmicha51: (this chat has two ends, the one you're on, telegram, and the original / main one, which is IRC.09:31
tomreyn)09:31
tomreynmicha51: also, your screenshot did not arrive here (you would need to post a URL or an attachment)09:31
IrcsomeBot<RikMills> @Anarchotaoist, It looks like the enabling up upgrades has been turned off again. I have no info why09:46
IrcsomeBot<RikMills> i.e. there is no hirsute entry in https://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release09:47
IrcsomeBot<RikMills> which is what the upgrader checks09:48
IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> @RikMills, Huh, OK. Thanks.09:48
IrcsomeBot<micha51> tomreyn: Oh didn't know that, thanks! … The issue: I think I've messed something with my sound drivers when trying to connect my bt headphones (I've deleted and reinstalled `pulseaudio` stuff). … Anyway, now I'm able to connect them and I get a `bt connected` notifiacation on both headphones and laptop ends, but all sound keep coming from computer. … <lordievader> suggested installing pavucontrol and so I did. here's a screensho09:49
IrcsomeBothttps://ibb.co/NZscsd6 … I tried playing with basic configurations on pavucontrol with no luck. Any suggestions?09:49
IrcsomeBot<micha51> in the screenshot the upper bar is the one that changes when music plays, the lower one is the headphones09:51
tomreynIrcsomeBot: what other "Port"(s) are availabel for the upper device?09:55
tomreynmicha51: ^ this was to you actually09:55
tomreynmicha51: also, which kubuntu release are you on?09:56
tomreynmicha51: unfortunately, the bluetooth audio protocols are a terrible mess, and (possibly as a result of that) Linux support is not very good at this time.09:58
tomreynmany things already work, but especially headphones (and specifically automatic switching between different profiles for just audio output or audio output and microphones) don'T always work well.10:00
tomreynor not out of the box. i assume this to work better in the next LTS release10:00
IrcsomeBot<micha51> tomreyn: well... terrible mess or not, suddenly it began working fine :) … sorry for the trouble and thanks!10:01
tomreynnice!10:10

IrcsomeBot<Filipones> @Filipones, Anybody?14:00
tomreynFilipones: for us on the IRC end of this channel, it can be good to repeat your question every couple hours or days if it's left unanswered (but still on topic). (this chat has two ends, the one you're on, telegram, and the original / main one, which is IRC.)14:17
tomreyn<Filipones> Hi! I'm having problems With Ubuntu/Kubuntu with my Geforce 310M... Kubunt is using NOUVEAU driver and the S.O. is very laggy when using any OPENGL as compositor. Can i share this doubt here? I've already tryed tons of command lines and read a lot on web, but nothing can solve it...14:18
tomreynGeforce 310M is pretty old. it's probably no longer supported by nvidias current proprietary drivers. but you could try using one of the older proprietary nvidia drivers14:19
tomreynnouveau is an open source driver, which is not a problem in itself, but unfortunately nvidia does not provide enough documentation to enable anyone to write proper open source drivers for their hardware.14:20
tomreyn(and if you depends on proprietary drivers, you depend on the vendor to keep supporting your hardware)14:21
IrcsomeBot<Filipones> Hi! It Works with proprietary driver on Ubuntu LTS version... With a bigger scale, but it works... The driver version is 34014:44
IrcsomeBot<Filipones> But it doesn't work with newer versions of kubuntu14:44
tomreyndoes this driver version exist there?14:45
tomreyn340 doesn't exist on 18.04, so i guess not14:46
tomreynoh yes it does on 18.0414:46
tomreynpackage "nvidia-340" exists on all supported releases. but ma not work well there due to software chainging over time, while the driver is not.14:48
IrcsomeBot<Filipones> Ok... Thx for your help!14:58
IrcsomeBot<Filipones> Cheers!14:58
ohallot_tdfhi... anybody willing to assite me in recovering a catatrophic update?15:48
ohallot_tdf I had 20.04 on a btrfs partition that (despite green light in available space) filled to 100% when upgrading15:48
ohallot_tdfand turned my system unisable, I had to reformat root partition (/) but now I cant install grub...15:49
* ohallot_tdf sit nad cry15:49
* ohallot_tdf sit and cry15:49
ohallot_tdfhome is saved15:50
JavaBeancongrats, also seems i am not the only one who is having a bad day like that15:50
ohallot_tdf(btrfs was always a PITA with fill-up partition)15:52
JavaBeannah, for me it was "something happened" whilest i was sleeping.  probably a power surge.  zorked many much stuff, but so far seems the zfs pool on one system survived the rest of it zorking15:54
ohallot_tdfI'm no sysadmin, just a bit skilled user, but this is a challenge. To start, how to set the right UEFI / EFI  for a laptop?15:58
ohallot_tdfmy root (/) partition should be in /dev/sdb115:58
JavaBeani ain't no sysadmin either... but isn't efi supposed to be first partition?15:59
JavaBeanyeah my stock install is efi=1 boot=2 and /=316:00
ohallot_tdfok. I can set efi at /dev/sda1. Then where does grub go?16:02
JavaBeangrub would be in /boot so in my case it would be in /dev/sda216:03
* ohallot_tdf experienced lot of crashes on insteller partition program16:15

IrcsomeBot<imhotep_maximum> Hello guys. I am having a very annoying problem with sound. I installed the last Kubuntu and I have the same problem with Mint. After some use the audio just doesn't work anymore. I have a LG computer All in One. It's old. Seven years old. With Windows 10 it's very bad to use. With Kubuntu is awesome. But with all the Ubuntu distros based I face the same problem. No audio after some use. I followed all the instructions in the22:08
IrcsomeBotlink below with no success. Any help, please?22:08
