TheBigKeven tho u got warned?12:03
skramerIs it even possible to remove apt?12:03
TheBigKskramer: yes it is12:04
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Since my terminal in german … I typed "ja, tue was ich sage!" … Which is the same, the problem is, i didn't see the full warning it went up12:04
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> It's possible and you can remove sudo too, but sudo won't give you a warning tho12:05
TheBigKim sorry, but this is funny...12:05
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I mean yes, and no … I must reinstall the system12:05
skramerTheBigK: Oh, I was not aware one could do it...12:05
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I tried to use dpkg instead to install apt!12:05
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> It didn't work out12:05
TheBigKskramer: i did that once or twice... but I knew what I was doing and reinstalled apt successfully12:05
skramerTheBigK: ;)12:06
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> So how did you install it again? … I still have my var and logs12:06
TheBigKthe problem is if ur database is gone or not12:06
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Am still new by the way, and founded that, something like that is extermly bad to ever be done12:06

IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> This is all happened when i tried to install assissin's creed odysse from lutris12:26
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Which is weird12:26
TheBigKi dont use lutris... so i cant say anything about that12:27

TheBigK!pastebininit12:31
TheBigK!pastebinit12:31
ubottupastebinit is the command-line equivalent of !pastebin - Command output, or other text can be redirected to pastebinit, which then reports an URL containing the output - To use pastebinit, install the « pastebinit » package from a package manager - Simple usage: command | pastebinit12:31

TheBigKi shouldnt use u... i should use you12:46
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Hmmm12:46
BluesKajexactly12:46
TheBigKchanging habits wont happen from one second to the other... so you have to be patient and understand12:47
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> (Photo, 1280x546) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/YTb5OP6t/file_43943.jpg I have those12:47
TheBigKim running out of ideas...12:48
BluesKajIt's merely a reminder about freenode chatroom rules, that's all12:48
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @TheBigK, Not a directory12:48
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> If i used "ldd": … Not a dynamic executable12:48
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I found a solution requireds dpkg12:49
TheBigKtry it out...12:49
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> cd /var/cache/apt/archives … dpkg -i apt_1.4.8_amd64.deb … ldconfig -n -v /usr/lib12:50
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> But it does not work12:50

IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> (Photo, 1280x282) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/cNbC5syW/file_43945.jpg Look12:52
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I have a problem with "libstdc++6:amd64"12:53
isomarigreeetings, is it possoble to hide the mouse cursor when I'm typing? Especially in my browser search box.12:56
TheBigKdo you have that file in /var/lib/apt/archives ... or any other version of that lib?13:07
TheBigKEuonoia86: which kubuntu release are u running?13:07
TheBigKisomari: after some googling try out xbanish... i dont know anything about it tho ;)13:15
isomariTheBigK: thanks, was just looking a it13:16
isomarixbanish works perfectly13:19
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @TheBigK, LTS13:20
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @TheBigK, No, i told you that up there13:20
TheBigKso its 20.04 focal13:22
TheBigKthere is more than one LTS13:22
TheBigKEunoia86 try http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gcc-10/libstdc++6_10.2.0-5ubuntu1~20.04_amd64.deb13:24
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> How do i know?13:24
TheBigKcat /etc/issue13:27
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> (Photo, 1280x720) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/ZbjvlHIK/file_43948.jpg This is what happend13:27
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @TheBigK, Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS \n \L13:28
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> But my DE is KDE13:28
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> It shows ubuntu not kubuntu i know this13:28
TheBigKcopy that debian package by hand if u need to... or boot a live usb stick with a working kubuntu13:28
TheBigKthats fine. kubuntu doesnt have its own distribution string in /etc/issue13:29
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I have windows on my HDD … I can use Rufus with it13:29
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Cause kubuntu on SSD … Windows on old HDD13:29
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> On the same laptop13:29
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> If it didn't worked i have no choice but to reinstall13:30
TheBigKi mean ... thats up to u13:30
TheBigKbut from a live usb stick... u can chroot into ur broken system13:30
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I thought i may fix it from grub … Or a tool like testdisk (which i can't install)13:30
TheBigKand copy like that the needed package and manually install them with dpkg13:30
TheBigKu could cry curl instead if wget doesnt work13:30
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @TheBigK, Would it take forever?13:31
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I saw someone speaking about something called "ar"13:31
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Would it help on the terminal?13:31
TheBigKi have no idea. if u fixed one issue another issue might popup ... i dont uninstall apt on a daily basis :D13:31
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Lol13:31
TheBigKsurely yes cause u have a running browser...13:31
TheBigKand u can have netcat for example and many other things13:32
TheBigKits a fully functioning linux then.. and the broken system is then into ur chroot shell13:32
TheBigKtheres probably wiki page for ubuntu to chroot into ur system from a live kubuntu13:32
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> If you have a link or anything would help, throw that on my dumbness13:33
TheBigKand u need to do that anyways if u wanting to reinstall in the end13:33
TheBigKyou13:33
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I thought of changing to another distro, i used manjaro before13:33
TheBigKis ur drive encrypted?13:34
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> Linux no … Windows no13:34
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> It uses ext4 i think13:34
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> This is what i choosed in the installation13:35
isomariis there any advantage to switching to wayland in focal? I'm using an H Envy 17 with nvidia graphics.13:38
isomariany drwabacks to upgrading my focal 21.04?13:49
isomaridrawbacks13:49
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> (Photo, 1280x541) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/X2R0kXVd/file_43950.jpg13:52
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> (Photo, 1280x255) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/ssa6wM66/file_43951.jpg13:56
TheBigKisomari: there are certainly considerations... im not even sure if its supported to directly upgrade to 21.04 ?14:01
TheBigKisomari: one obvious one is its no lts anymore. so only 9 months support14:01
isomariTheBigK: understood. I thik I'll just stick with focal for now14:02
TheBigKim using 21.04 ... but i dont mind to upgrade every 6 months14:02
isomaridoes wayland support nvidia yet?14:03
TheBigKEunoia86 why would u add a mirror which u already have14:04
TheBigKcheck /var/log/apt/history.log for what exactly is removed and installed. that might hint u where the wrong version is installed. something is still wrong which hasnt been recovered yet14:07
isomarican I choose xorg from the login screen in  21.04? I don't think wayland supports my nvidia.14:11
TheBigKyes it does14:14
TheBigKbut u need a kernel option14:14
TheBigKedit /etc/default/grub and put this in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT14:15
TheBigKnvidia-drm.modeset=114:15
isomariTheBigK: you mean it's not transparent? I can't just upgrade and choose xorg from the login dropdown?14:15
TheBigKofc u can choose which session u wanna select. but nvidia and wayland u need that parameter to have it work14:16
TheBigKand then u do update-grub to write that config14:16
TheBigKbut i cant recommend wayland on kubuntu... its kinda buggy still14:17
TheBigKits good that the defualt user session is still x1114:17
TheBigKespecially when it comes to gaming14:17
TheBigKits usable which is quite cool. but for me its not usable that i would use it on a daily basis14:18
TheBigKbut it gets better with every kubuntu release14:19
TheBigKand thats quite cool14:19
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> (Photo, 1280x386) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/NkBTN8bL/file_43953.jpg This is what i miss, the whole problem14:21
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> If i have those, everything is fine14:23
isomariok. So if I'm not using wayland on 21.04 I don't have to do anything other than choose xorg from the menu?14:23
TheBigKthats also the case with 20.0414:23
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> I must get apt first before all, so i can update the system and anything else missed would be downloaded and installed14:24
TheBigKbut for nvidia module to work u need that module setting which i told u about14:24
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> BUT I CAN'T14:24
isomariI ever noticed if there was a wayland option on 20.0414:24
TheBigKisomari: assuming u have the wayland packages installed its there... :)14:24
isomariok, so where can I get the howto to get nvidia working on wayland?14:25
isomarifor 20.0414:25
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @Eunoia86, I got this after typing  … Sudo dpkg --configure -a14:25
TheBigKi pretty much gave u the tldr of it.. didnt u read that?14:25
TheBigKisomari: https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Wayland/Nvidia14:26
isomarithanks14:26
TheBigKEunoia86 : do u have those 4 packages as a package on ur filesystem14:27
TheBigKthen u should be aple to install them using dpkg14:29
krosonHey guys, whats up? I'd like to ask if anyone is having problems (crashes) with LibreOffice, particularly on Impress, on Kubuntu specifically (doesn't happen in GTK-based environments). It just crashes with me after using it for a while, it is not a fixed time, just by doing this and that or Alt-TAB between windows will make LO crash. This happens both in 20.10 and 21.04 for me. Is anyone experiencing the same issue? Tks in advance14:33
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @Eunoia86, Nah, i tried to download them, but it says that in status14:44
IrcsomeBot<Eunoia86> @TheBigK, I have arch package installer14:45
