alyed | Anyone ever installed Xubuntu selecting minimal installation? It doesn't install a lot of tools needed by system by default. I did that. Got no language support pre-installed, no software store, not even arc and bluetooth icon in the top panel is not visible | 15:14 |
doc|home | Hi, using xubuntu 16.04 I've started getting a sda decrypt password prompt on boot, before it would be a command line prompt. Only thing is it's not accepting the password. Anyone experienced this? | 21:31 |
doc|home | If so, how can I fix it? | 21:31 |
* doc|home going to set up newer os with new computer | 21:32 | |
gnrp | doc|home: Could it be that you entered the password with a different keyboard layout? | 21:36 |
gnrp | than english? | 21:36 |
doc|home | gnrp: nope, same keyboard, same everything. At most OS updates. Another weird thing is during the grub selection stage it was flashing a prompt like: _ It used not do that. | 21:36 |

hereiamsorryandh | I asked the questions on the 18-th of May here, spent all day to solve the issues and found the solution. Just sharing what that was if it might be interesting or helpful to anyone in the future | 23:04 |
hereiamsorryandh | The reason was… NVIDIA, which has stopped supporting old version (340) for new Linux kernels (5.4+). nvidia-340 package for hirsute is just empty, no files. And Version 340 was the last which supported my 8400 GS Rev. 2. Finally found someone who has created a patched version of nvidia-340 driver for new kernel. Ta-dah | 23:07 |
