ghostcubeHi Folks, anyone a idea why the Kubuntu install DVD isnt booting on a Gigabyte Aorus Ultra X570 with AMD Ryzen 5600x? it just stops booting at a time. UEFI Modus is enabled secure boot not.12:10
TheBigKghostcube: which version ur trying to boot12:14
ghostcube21.0412:14
TheBigKtry 20.04.. i dont know why... but i had trouble with current installers12:15
oerhekscheck for updates for your mobo bios12:15
ghostcubeno available last one is from may 2312:15
ghostcubeso its new12:15
ghostcubeTheBigK: hmm ok will try12:16
TheBigKghostcube: whats the error message exactly? or it just doesnt find it12:16
ghostcubeTheBigK: a lot of Errors inside the bootscreen, and then it just stops12:16
ghostcubei cant tell you the exact error that causes this stop12:17
TheBigKghostcube: who uses optical media still... u have no usb drive on hand?12:17
ghostcubesure i have a usb drive, but this should not matter for a installation12:18
=== steve_ is now known as steevc
TheBigKghostcube: considering how unreliable optic media is... i wouldnt count it off... does it work in a different computer?12:19
ghostcubehave not tried a different pc so far. but i never had any problems using a dvd to install. considering how unreliable usb drives are...12:20
ghostcubewill test it on another pc and tell you12:20
TheBigKghostcube: i had troubles using kubuntu 20.10 and 21.04 on thinkpads getting it to install... 20.04 and upgrading wasnt an issue... i hope u can fix it...12:23
ghostcubeTheBigK: thx for the info i will try this :)12:23
alkisgghostcube: remove "quiet" from the boot menu, so that you see the error messages, and then paste the error here12:24
ghostcubethe boot menu is available by F2 so i can see what it does, but its just stuck. The last i seee before is systemd foo... but this isnt really related to the not boot to installer problem it claims about network manager. so i dont think this is the real problem causing the issue12:26
ghostcubebut i can do it later and post it12:26
TheBigKghostcube: yeah hard to debug without error messages. but on my ryzen 3900 with x570 chipset... i have no problem booting atleast the live system12:27
TheBigKbut im booting from network over my pi for setups... so... yeah... is not same12:27
ghostcubeah ok so x570 works for you than its not the chipset :D12:28
ghostcubethats nice to hear12:28
ghostcubecould the 3060 RTX be a propblem? schouldnt or?12:29
TheBigKamd is actually quite good for linux... they are easier workable for linuxers :D12:29
TheBigKghostcube: i dont have one so i cant comment... but i doubt it with current nvidia-drivers12:29
TheBigKbut when u say... systemd is already booting... then the kernel booted correctly... that sounds weird... yeah... we need a bootlog12:33
TheBigKhttps://askubuntu.com/questions/1265397/unable-to-install-ubuntu-20-04-via-live-usb-ryzen-5-3600 <- thats what i found u can try as well12:33
oerheksas i understand, you never get to the install menu, where you could select F6 nomodeset ?12:36
ghostcubeoerheks: yep, the dvd gets stuck before the grafical interface comes up12:38
ghostcubeoerheks: the only thing is that i have the grub2 start menu to select what kind of installation i want to do, i can tell it boot parameters if anyone has a idea which one12:42
alkisgF6 nomodeset is syslinux which is only used in BIOS. ghostcube uses UEFI/grub. He can add nomodeset from there. The systemd message is much later.12:51
alkisgI.e., ghostcube press "e" in grub to replace "quiet" with "nomodeset"12:52
ghostcubealkisg: exactly i use uefi, i will try nomodeset12:54
alkisgRemember to remove quiet and if it fails again, upload a photo. It's important to see which part it reached.12:57
ghostcubeok :)12:58
zeechHello, I'm experiencing an odd issue with Dolphin.  I have connected to a samba share using Dolphin's "Add Network Folder" function.  But when I try to paste files into the share, I don't get the option to paste the file, only "Paste Content of Clipboard".  If I drag-and-drop the file to the share, then it will give me the option to Copy/Move and15:00
zeechit works fine.  Just the right-click context menu doesn't work, and neither does Ctrl-V.15:00
zeechI am on the Kubuntu LTS, btw.15:03
