[22:27] I may have to go and buy a real USB 2.0 audio if [22:27] OvenWerks: *sigh* not quite... been busy. Getting ready to do a presentation for work for a developer conference that I was basically forced into doing. If I had my way, I wouldn't be doing it because, quite frankly, I have no idea what I'm talking about. [22:28] I have just booted 21.04 to add: https://launchpad.net/~pipewire-debian/+archive/ubuntu/pipewire-upstream to play again with PW [22:29] if jack<->pw bridging works as it is supposed to, it may be close to switch time [22:30] or combine time [22:30] sounds like you are learning on the job [22:31] unfortunate that there is a short timeline [22:31] updating 1464 packages :P [22:34] Well, there's no freewheel in 21.04's pipewire, should be by the time 21.10 comes out, but those packages are coming from Debian afaik. Debian, afaik, is still release frozen. [22:34] OvenWerks: ^ [22:34] Eickmeyer: thats why the ppa above [22:34] Oh, I see. [22:34] Can't put that in 21.10, but it's worth the experimentation. [22:35] experimentation is needed to see what things I can bug wtay about [22:35] Yep. [22:36] also to make sure I can use my audio device... usb audio seems to be getting worse if anything... may be true for alsa in general [22:42] Well, I think it's key to have a USB audio interface that is actually made for Low Latency, like the Scarlett Focusrite or the Behringer Uphoria series like I have. [22:43] I can run my Uphoria with 2 periods per buffer, contrary to most USB audio devices out there. [22:43] OvenWerks: ^ [22:44] I am also wondering if the _right_ USB3.0 hub might help [22:45] Eickmeyer: it seems some people have no problems and others with the same device do [22:45] Might be the USB controller too. That's a crapshoot. [22:45] I suspect motherboard (more so in laptops) is more a problem] [22:45] Mine is a laptop. [22:46] I have had no problems with mine old one (32bit) either [22:46] I run my interface from a USB 3.1 hub from a USB C port. [22:48] does it show up as the same bus as a mouse pluggdirectly in? [23:40] Yep. [23:40] OvenWerks: ^ (sorry, been busy with a ton of stuff, still workday for me)
