=== Guest93 is now known as Rob_vd_Berg [19:39] hi ItsRogueRen [19:39] Yo [19:40] ok, ask your question here, the dev of studio control is in here, but might be off-line [19:40] OvenWerks, we can't get the extra devices to show up in Studio Controls [19:40] OS : Pop_OS 20.10 [19:41] looking at the screenshot that ItsRogueRen supplied (on Discord) everything should just work [19:41] Ok, well I'm trying to get Carla to show my USB audio devices after I reinstalled my OS (Pop!_OS 20.10, Ubuntu based). It used to work just fine, it seems like all my setting in Studio Controls are correct, but it only shows my USB audio interface for my mic/headphones and nopthing else [19:42] Do I need to leave my PC specs as well? [19:42] ItsRogueRen: wait a bit ;-) [19:42] it's Rob , from the matrix side \o/ [19:43] matrix supplies a backlog, so when you leave before getting an answer , I can always retrieve it here [19:43] oh nice [19:43] you might wanna join matrix 😉 [19:44] it's free, opensource and federated [19:44] I would, but 90% of the communities I'm in are only on Discord [19:45] Mostly VTubers [19:46] ... but the kool kids are here ... [19:46] like me [19:46] ;-) [19:47] it's fine, just as long as you understand that when you close your irc chat, you won't get any replies , even if you open the irc chat again [19:47] Even if I make an account? [19:48] and irc account ? [19:48] that doesn't matter [19:48] it's like a telephone call, if you hang up .. it's gone [19:48] matrix keeps a log [19:48] That's annoying [19:49] that's irc .. it's like 500 years old [19:49] Not the end of the world or anything, but mildly annoying [19:50] and hard core irc users keep either servers running to 'bounce' the irc traffic and do what not to keep a log of the traffic [19:50] and say : irc is so simple :-# [19:51] OK yeah gonna stick to Discord then! lol [19:51] matrix, solves all this [19:51] you aren't on matrix atm [19:51] It is not obvious from here what the trouble might be. [19:52] I can provide screenshots of whatever you need to see [19:52] What version of controls are you using? If it is not in the main window it's old :) [19:53] Its the latest version in the Pop!_shop [19:53] hold on lemme get a version number [19:54] ...it does not say [19:54] latest release is 2.1.4. [19:54] oh no .. let's pray it's not a flatpak or anything ... [19:54] no its deb [19:54] if it does not say you have something older [19:55] dpkg -l | grep studio-controls [19:55] The 2.1.* set show the version [19:56] OvenWerks: I have an older version so I found it a bit harder to be 100% sure their setup was ok [19:56] I have been running 2.2 beta for months so I tend to forget what the old ones look like [19:56] but I was 99% sure [19:56] 2.0.9 [19:56] so previous release [19:57] * rgh hadn't enabled backports 🤦‍♂️ [19:57] I had what I wanted working before I had to reinstall my OS [19:57] I would guess you will find a file called ~/.config/autojackrc or ~/.config/autojack/autojackrc [19:58] Ouch [19:58] we checked that file [19:58] I don't have a .config folder in my home directory [19:58] if you do: pastebinit autojackrc from the right directory I can see it too. [19:59] if you do ls -a [19:59] from home dir [20:00] .config is used by a lot of stuff [20:00] pop-pc@pop-os:~$ ls -a [20:00] . [20:00] .. Ex. it uses systemd instead of grub [20:05] systemd and grub normally do two different things. So use grub to boot then replace init with systemd. [20:06] anyway, if .config is missing, controls (and I would expect many other things) won't work [20:06] you can mkdir ~/.config [20:06] This is a new install and everything seems to work perfectly [20:07] wtf that command says file exists [20:07] WTF I can cd into it [20:07] I wonder if they hide it somehow [20:08] maybe? but I have hidden directories enabled [20:08] the -a is supposed show all of them [20:08] the autojack config is there [20:08] I have a screenshot to prove it [20:08] well anyway, I can view stuff in the terminal so where do I go next? [20:09] so anyway, from the config: you are running the internal audio as jack master [20:09] I do have a folder for autojack [20:10] OvenWerks: we changed to internal soundcard as a test, just to find out if it made any difference [20:10] then some other internal devices [20:11] Is the U192k a USB device? [20:11] Yes [20:11] Its a Behringer Uphoria UMC202HD USB audio interface [20:12] Yeah, I thought I reconized it. You normally use it as USB jack master? [20:12] yes I do [20:13] I guess we should look for how you want it to be if the one rgh sent has been changed [20:13] That is the only USB device working in Carla (its system in that) [20:14] I have 2 other USB audio devices, a 3.5mm headphone/mic to USB adapter and a USB capture card. They both worked before and showed up as seperate audio sources as well as my webcam mic in Carla [20:15] So probably best to show me screen shots of the gui set the way you want it. [20:15] That's the problem, I can't b/c it won't show the devices anymore [20:16] gui of studio controls [20:16] ls /proc/asound |pastebinit [20:16] (hoping your OS includes pastebinit) [20:16] sudo apt install pastebinit ;-) [20:17] isn't it /proc/asound/cards ? [20:17] ohhhhh [20:17] OvenWerks: I have a screenshot, hold on [20:17] from a terminal of course [20:18] * rgh uploaded an image: (97KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/zCHQUiKOtBREpMdYoBrgkpOW/afbeelding.png > [20:18] rgh: that would work too. [20:18] OvenWerks: ^^ [20:19] ItsRogueRen: you want U192k to be the main soundcard (the one with the speakers attached) ? [20:20] and device 0 and 1 (USB-Audio Device and Live Streaming USB Device) as extra input devices , right ? [20:20] Yes [20:20] U192k is already working as it should [20:20] good [20:20] so, it's 0 and 1 we need to add [20:21] Well except auto connecting but that's a minor issue I'm not worried about [20:21] OvenWerks: we tried jack_lsp , but the extra devices didn't show up [20:21] I could probably write a script to autorun and do that [20:22] does pastebinit ~/.log/autojack.log work? [20:22] let me find out [20:22] umm new install... have you installed zita-ajbridge? [20:23] No [20:23] lemme grab that [20:23] oh [20:23] wait I do have it [20:23] I was thinking ; it must be something very simple and obvious we're missing [20:24] v 0.8.4-1 [20:24] ok, just a shot in the dark [20:24] I somehow manage to have the most obscure tech issues lol [20:25] I guess if adding the internal devices worked, zita-ajbridge had to be there [20:25] Even when I was back on Windows I would have weird, never seen before, issues [20:26] yeah, if we can see ~/.log/autojack.log that would be helpful [20:26] ItsRogueRen: are we sure it's a normal deb install and not a flatpak/snap ? [20:26] !popos [20:26] The Ubuntu channels can only provide support for Ubuntu and its official flavors, since other distributions and derivatives have repository and software changes. So please use their dedicated support venues, for example: Linux Mint (#linuxmint-help on irc.spotchat.org), Kali Linux (#kali-linux), and LXLE (#lxle) [20:26] ^ Full stop. [20:26] For jack or studio controls? [20:26] Yes. [20:26] both [20:27] they are deb, deb is the only option for SC in the pop shop and Jack I had to install manually [20:27] We can't support installations on PopOS here. It's beyond the scope of this channel. [20:27] ok [20:27] ok [20:27] well [20:28] rgh maybe #lau [20:28] github.com/ovenwerks/studio-controls is where any issues outside of Ubuntu should be posted. [20:28] just checking if we missed something obvious becase it used to work without a hitch [20:29] ItsRogueRen, type /join #lau [20:29] Still does for me. Nothing changed, really. [20:30] anyway , thanks so far 🙂 [20:30] uhhh I cant join that [20:31] !register [20:31] For information on registering your IRC nick, see https://libera.chat/guides/registration - For any further help, ask in #libera [20:31] ah ty [20:33] Eickmeyer: beat me to it [20:33] :) [20:33] so much has changed in the past release and next release... I am not longer sure what I am talking about :P [20:35] does an ubuntu live iso have the studio controls and whatnot preloaded ? [20:35] rgh: Only Ubuntu Studio's live ISO. [20:35] Eickmeyer: I made a typo :-) [20:35] I meant the ustudio [20:36] rgh: Sure. No worries. Just not the "latest" version if 20.04 (still "*Ubuntu* Studio Controls" there). [20:36] 21.04 has the latest released version. Versions later than that are still in testing. [20:36] did we make such a thing? :) [20:37] OvenWerks: Haha
