[19:26] <tomreyn> something else you should test is (a) whether the .iso did download properly and (b) whether it was properly written to the installer media. compare checksums for both tests.

[19:49] <tomreyn> that's pretty common with older laptops, unless you clean them. but even then, they can run hotter now than they used to, due to cpu bug mitigations
