It only runs in compatibility/recovery mode (live image or installed). [05:41] If i boot it normally, it very soon locks up completely, and I have to power cycle it. alt+sysq+reisub doesn't even do anything. [05:51] mikeeq, what release are you asking about? what hardware/video card? [05:53] guiverc: I'm on the latest one. Intel integrated graphics. no-name nuc [05:54] it's best if you're specific; latest is vague (latest daily? latest release? latest lts? are all vague); even integrated graphics is a graphics card [05:55] guiverc: sorry. it's 21.04 [05:55] i'm away ~20 mins; but I'd look at what graphics you have, boot live & `sudo lshw -C video` will provide details (you can pastebinit here) [05:58] guiverc: https://pastebin.com/geWv6Ygi [06:06] I'm just going to try an older LTS version. Pretty sure I had one running fine on this machine a couple years back. [06:07] thanks for your help, guiverc [06:12] mikeeq, if you go for lubuntu 20.04 (or 20.04.1 media) you'll use the GA kernel, ie. 5.4 which is supported the full product life; has 'older' kernel modules (ie. drivers), where as 20.04.2 media will default to HWE which means it'll get the 21.04 kernel very soon (at 20.04.3) [06:16] guiverc: are you sure? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack [06:16] this looks like I have to go back to 18.04 [06:16] 18.04.1 [06:17] Yes I'm sure... The wiki link you are referring to is for Ubuntu (not flavors like Lubuntu). Lubuntu media also doesn't include OEM & other kernels like Ubuntu Desktop does. [06:18] fyi: Lubuntu 20.04.3 media (today's daily) contains the 5.11 kernel from 21.04; however installed system (my own anyway) with HWE is still using 5.8 from 20.10 [06:18] guiverc: ah ok [06:19] fyi: some flavors maybe like Ubuntu Desktop; I can only say I know Lubuntu (can't remember what 20.04.2 installed with xubuntu/kubuntu - didn't have need to commit that detail to memory sorry) [06:22] sorry s/20.04.2/20.04.1 ^ (for xubuntu/kubuntu..) [19:23] [telegram] Hi [19:48] test [19:49] well aint this intresting [19:49] misspeled it like a pro [19:49] ok [19:49] well [19:59] test. [21:22] ok [21:22] huh [21:22] well erm [21:22] so this is pretty dead
