lordievaderGood morning06:10
webchat68hi folks - is it possible to create an iso from a running instance of ubuntu?09:22
lordievaderIIRC I once replaced the squashfs of the iso with one I had modified. I suppose taking a running install and putting that in the squashfs would work the same. However, I'm not sure if there are some special steps that you need to take. I wouldn't really be surprised if there are tools who do this for you.09:28
TJ-anyone familiar with 'heartbeat' and having it use IPv6 - docs are silent !10:04

Psi-Jackheh, I installed Ubuntu Server 20.04 onto a miniPC that had dual NIC's. Once it finished installing I was struck with a nice little "Waiting for Network" job that literally had an unlimited timer on it. What brain dead Ubuntu developer thought this was a good idea by default? LOL14:51
Psi-JackI literally had to bypass it by plugging the cable up to the other port, for a moment then back to get actual network connectivity again.14:51
mybalzitchikr14:57
TJ-Psi-Jack: that is systemd-networkd: man systemd-networkd-wait-online.service15:02
Psi-Jackheh, yeah, but, by default, this is an Ubuntu Server install issue!15:02
Psi-JackI mean. most ... servers... have multiple NIC's in them. LOL15:02
TJ-so don't configure them all! Presumably this was caused by netplan config ?15:03
Psi-JackI didn't.... I configured a single port, and post-install, it waited for the unconfigured port till the end of time.15:03
Psi-JackOOTB!15:03
Psi-JackAnd this can be repeated in a VM with multiple vNICs, the same result.15:04
Psi-JackJust have one vNIC "disconnected"15:04
patdk-lapsame here, happens on every install15:30
patdk-lapI'm too lazy to configure more than one nic in the installer, mostly cause the installer doesn't handle my usecases15:30

pcfreak30Hello, I seem to have an issue im getting stumped on. I have a raid array mounted to a /mnt/data/3G/. I am using NFS to export /mnt/data to a client node. THe client writes files to this folder, and i have verified by umounting it, BUT the files do NOT show up on the host. I would appreciate any help. thanks.21:25
pcfreak30The client writes to /mnt/data/3G/ to be clear21:26
sarnoldpcfreak30: nfs filesystems crossing actual mount points is quite often trouble21:27
sarnoldpcfreak30: it'd be better to export /mnt/data/3G/ and mount that, instead, and see if it works better21:27
pcfreak30i was trying to reduce the number of mounts needed and just have a sort of super share21:28
sarnoldyeah, that makes sense, I just don't think it works very well21:29
pcfreak30well i did that21:29
pcfreak30umounted to verify21:30
pcfreak30the files exist, but are missing on the host nas server21:30
pcfreak30but they show up for the client21:30
pcfreak30the files show up on a second client as well21:31
pcfreak30when mounted21:31
pcfreak30the array shows 1% usage but is empty21:32
pcfreak30So the question is WTF is going on with ghost files on the host?21:33
pcfreak30FS ix XFS21:33
pcfreak30sarnold: any ideas on that?21:36
sarnoldpcfreak30: my best guess is that they're written 'under' a mount point..21:38
pcfreak30i also remonted the host to a second folder and its still empty?21:38
pcfreak30under? huh?21:38
pcfreak30the array shows storage usage, which is good but the files cant be found21:39
pcfreak30unless your a nfs client21:39
pcfreak30sarnold: ^21:40
sarnoldpcfreak30: this describes what I'm thinking about https://limbenjamin.com/articles/hiding-files-with-mount.html21:40
pcfreak30ok something like that seemed to hapopen21:43
pcfreak30how do I aviod that with nfs21:43
