[14:31] <Safiyyah> it plugs in okay on the windows desktop, no issues but i bought it to use on my linux laptop. It is a wired keyboard

[14:33] <MattJ> Does it appear in `lsusb` when you plug it in? Does anything appear in dmesg about it?

[14:47] <daftykins> in fact i think a USB hub would be a better way to go for a laptop, try an Amazon basics one

[14:48] <daftykins> ideally one which is powered, so it comes with an AC adapter
[14:48] <Safiyyah> I know my laptop is old but still... I didn't think it was this bad

[14:49] <daftykins> some mechanical keyboards just need a bit more juice, the other thing you could try is to take a spare toothbrush and clean the USB ports in case the power pins are dirty
[14:50] <Safiyyah> I am borderline OCD, they are clean
[14:52] <Safiyyah> the lack of power makes sense, this thing is crashing when I am editing images
