horizonbrave[m] | came here to ask if Ubuntu Studio installer support zfs installation and if it's recommended please | 02:24 |
Eickmeyer | horizonbrave[m]: Not really recommended since zfs isn't part of the kernel but a kernel module. Therefore, it tends to increase latency for audio production purposes. | 02:26 |
horizonbrave[m] | Eickmeyer: understand, thanks a lot for clearment | 02:27 |
TurboTech | Hey Guys, sport photographer here. Had been using Ubuntu Studio since 2018. I had to upgrade due to broken packages. I decided to go with Straight Ubuntu 20.04. I was sad to see that Ubuntu 20.04 does not support Display Cal or Filezilla. I also am having a problem with IcedTea Web Start not being able to open JNLP files for some odd reason. The reason I am writing here is because I decided to reinstall Ubuntu Studio 18.04 | 22:04 |
TurboTech | n a different drive and run it when I need to calibtate my monitor. I ran into the same problem with IcedTea Web because it has the newest update which does not allow me to access my color labs ROES Desktop which I was able to do with my old Ubuntu Studio. | 22:04 |
TurboTech | If anyone is using an updated ICED Tea Web Start with ROES for 20.04, could you please pass along how you were able to get it to work? | 22:06 |
tomreyn | TurboTech: JWS is actually deprecated, no longer supported after Java 11 (unless by auxiliary software) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Web_Start | 23:09 |
tomreyn | *since Java 11 | 23:11 |
tomreyn | https://github.com/karakun/OpenWebStart/releases has java 8 builds with their icedtea-web fork | 23:14 |
tomreyn | Ubuntu Studio 18.04 is EOL. | 23:15 |
tomreyn | file zilla IS available on 20.04 from default repositories | 23:16 |
tomreyn | I don't know about the state of display (color) calibration in either release, though. | 23:17 |
TurboTech | Thank you. | 23:29 |
