[06:50] Good morning all [06:57] good morning [06:58] salut didrocks [06:59] good morning desktoppers [06:59] salut didrocks & jibel [06:59] salut jibel, oSoMoN [07:01] Morning jibel, didrocks, oSoMoN [07:01] salut oSoMoN duflu [07:01] hey duflu [07:03] hey duflu [07:04] good morning [07:09] good morning everyone [07:09] hey jibel didrocks oSoMoN duflu jpnurmi [07:10] good morning jpnurmi, ricotz [07:10] Morning jpnurmi and ricotz [07:10] hey jpnurmi, ricotz ! [07:12] We are down two people today. Still want to do the meeting later? [07:12] oSoMoN, fyi https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1721326 -- seems thunderbird 78 runs fine with glibc 2.34, but firefox-esr 78 doesn't [07:12] Mozilla bug 1721326 in Core "Port to glibc 2.34 dynamic PTHREAD_STACK_MIN" [S4, Resolved: Fixed] [07:14] hi ricotz oSoMoN duflu didrocks [07:15] I guess we have other teams attending usually so should stick with it [07:18] ricotz, the bug only affects impish and is fixed in 91.1 ESR, so it looks like we're covered? [07:18] duflu: I tried the no-overview@fthx extension yesterday, but couldn't make it work (at least not with the default Ubuntu extensions in place). [07:21] GunnarHj, luckily it's not important. It looks similar to what I did but in a more hacky/racy way [07:22] If more people raise the issue in future (when they're using GNOME 40/41) then we can revisit [07:23] oSoMoN, it affects firefox-esr 78 which ftbfs and has runtime issues, I don't see those runtime problems with thunderbird 78 though, but probably it is affected too [07:23] duflu: I think it would be good if you could fix it somehow. It makes little sense to start in the overview at login. [07:24] oSoMoN, e.g. tor-browser (based on 78) is not usable with glibc 2.34 either [07:25] GunnarHj, that extension is doing the wrong thing really because gnome-shell forces it to. That's why I proposed fixing gnome-shell. We could patch something like my fix into gnome-shell for Ubuntu but I wasn't going to consider that yet [07:26] duflu: +1 for patching :) [07:26] Particularly because doing that would create the problem Florian was concerned about -- a new interface that might go away, or worse only exists in Ubuntu [07:26] Although we could patch it without the public interface. Just always off [07:27] The problem is that's backwards and would be true for people (like me) who disable ubuntu-dock [07:28] duflu: Would it be possible with a patch which enables it only when ubuntu-dock is active? [07:31] GunnarHj, I was thinking that. But instead of naming the extension, detect any extension like it [07:31] Maybe later. Too contentious for a Friday afternoon as I want to approach de-stressing [07:32] :) [07:32] good afternoon [07:33] Hi callk [07:33] Hi callmepk [07:33] hi duflu [07:37] ricotz, regarding thunderbird, I'm in the process of packaging 91.0 for impish, I'll test against glibc in impish-proposed [07:37] hey callmepk [07:38] I suppose tor-browser will rebase on firefox 91 at some point in the near future [07:38] hey callmepk [07:42] oSoMoN, ok, I expect upstream to handle this for 78 too though while there are two 78 point releases left, still I wanted you to be aware [07:42] ricotz, thanks for the heads up! [07:44] oSoMoN, I am patching and rebuilding firefox-esr 78 which hopefully fixes the problems I am seeing [07:55] hi jpnurmi oSoMoN and also ricotz [21:47] does anybody know of a good desktop environment closes to windows, GNOME seems off? [23:23] is 5GB the current minimum disk space required for Ubuntu Desktop installs? it seems too small? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements
