[18:12] <nikolam> When I select resolution either in xorg.conf or in ~/.xprofile, resolution used to show but could not be set. I could only set it temporarily with xrandr and after that not even with it. 
[18:12] <nikolam> But when selecting in Display settings in Xfce it could not be forced.
[18:13] <diogenes_> nikolam, first check if this user has session save enabled, if it has then disable it, rm ~/.cache/sessions/* then relog and see if that helps, if not then rename ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml
