[14:54] Iamthehuman1: Uh... sounds like you've got a config file issue, but I'm not sure which one. Reason: I can't reproduce the issue and have zero issues updating from discover. [14:54] (for it to be a bug, it must be reproducible) [14:55] Eickmeyer: which problem are you referring to... the one with JACK not hooking up to the right output? [14:55] Iamthehuman1: No, the discover issue. [14:55] hold on a sec... I look in logs [14:56] ok that bug, that also stopped exhibiting .. prlly after an upgrade [14:56] s/upgrade/reboot/ [14:57] Iamthehuman1: Ah. Yeah, pkexec may have been stuck, I've seen that happen before. Happens if it times-out for whatever reason (usually failing to respond to the dialog box for a password in time). [14:58] What do you think about gparted running some operation causing instant log-out of Plasma. This happened to me twice [14:58] Iamthehuman1: That seems odd, but why use gparted (a gnome app) on Plasma when the KDE Partition Manager is already installed? [14:58] I certainly hope it was not a fake logout by some malicious party, but a bonafide bug [14:59] Eickmeyer: On Kubuntu and KDE neon gparted was more stable [14:59] Iamthehuman1: Are you using KDE neon currently? [15:00] No. Day #58 on US 21.04 [15:00] Ok. Partition Manager is installed by default on both Ubuntu Studio and Kubuntu and it's the exact same package. I have never had an issue. [15:00] What version of Kubuntu did you experience the issue on? [15:01] I found the workaround to use Partition Manager [15:01] Eickmeyer: the ones between 2011 and 2020 [15:02] but yeah.. I'll just use the Partition Manager instead of gparted.. old habits.. [15:02] Iamthehuman1: Ok, bear in mind that Partition Manager is updated twice a year as part of the OS (not regular updates), so your "stability" problem may be based on an old version. [15:02] I don't know why gparted would crash your sddm (sounds like that's what is happening). [15:02] However, I can't reproduce. [15:02] you're probably right... Partition Manager used to be comme-ci, comme-ça, but by now it is prlly rock-solid [15:05] Iamthehuman1: The reason I asked about KDE Neon is because the version of all KDE packages comes from their own repository. The OS is an Ubuntu base, but any KDE package comes from a custom repo, not ours.
