[00:49] OvenWerks: We have a situation. Somehow our ISO size has exceeded the allowable 4.0GB and they're not building anymoree as of yesterday. What can wee eliminate? [14:50] Eickmeyer: how much larger? Are there any parts of kde iso we start from that can be dropped? [14:50] (I think we include the whole libre office chunk) [14:51] Eickmeyer: do we ship more than one theme? I know we ship too many back drops. [14:51] I already removed some stuff, including lmms for now. [14:52] We'll see what happens with today's build. Basically, we reached the hard technical limit of ISO9660. [14:53] Eickmeyer: if you have removed that, then lv1 packages can go too [14:53] (ladspa) and probably vst2 packages [14:54] Eickmeyer: can we group these things into one meta that installer can readd? [14:55] True, but I want to see how this build goes, which happens around 11am. [14:55] Perhaps. [14:55] The one thing that ladspa has that can't be found anywhere else is the ambsonics plugins [14:56] Something happened between the 26th and 27th that caused this. People I've talked to can't figure out what since we eliminated stuff prior. [14:57] What's really killing us is the fonts. [14:59] the iso I have from 23rd is already border line, ls -lh shows 4.1G [15:00] Yeah. 21.04 was 3.5, so something grew. [15:00] plasma? [15:00] Ardour? :) [15:01] Something. I'm honestly wondering if we should drop "publishing". [15:02] That would take care 9f the fonts as well as other things. [15:02] it would be nice to know how many people use these parts of things [15:03] Specifically, on a live session. [15:04] In many ways, someone doing publishing may find studio is not the best tool [15:05] Agreed. [15:08] Eickmeyer: making installer willing to source packages from a local partition to add in extra things would help. [15:08] it would allow a full install off of a single USB stick off line [15:09] Right, and that should be able to be done in theory. [15:09] Or simply let installer handle things after the fact. [15:10] Some people like to do their whole install off line [15:10] or have no choice [15:11] To be honest, though, I think we should drop publishing from our scope. It gets into a weird territory that people don't expect from us. [15:11] Makes our scope a little too broad. [15:16] I honestly can't really coment. Certainly graphics would be a part of pubishing but maybe not the reverse [15:18] Nah, graphics is its own category. There is certainly some overlap, though. [15:26] yes graphics is it's own catagory, but publishing would probably depend on it in most publishing workflows [15:27] A novel would not (aside from cover art) but a brosure would [15:47] The publishing meta contains some graphics items as recommends (such as gimp), but the removal wouldn't affect the graphics meta since those same items are listed.
