Snaps are unstable (unresponsive when clicking menus etc) and have been for me forever. So I updated to 21.10 beta yesterday, hoping it would be better in the latest version. Installed the canonical chromium snap and it failed within 20 seconds (10 of which is still spent on starting the app first time). What can be done to speed up app start (sound like a small thing, but it's really not!) and to make apps not crash like this). [11:55] I can reproduce the crash with Bitwarden and Chromium snaps it seem - I have not tried anything else. [11:55] When clicking certain menus, at some point they are not drawn, and the app hangs [12:09] tmus: while you wait for support, you can browse some existing chromium bugs perhaps https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bugs?field.tag=snap&orderby=importance&start=0 [12:13] Thank you, lotuspsychje [19:42] I wonder if chromium crashes are related to the electron crashes... [19:49] JanC: if you like, there is a new libc6 upload aimed at dealing with the electron crashes, 2.34-0ubuntu3 in impish-proposed. [19:50] I don't have a beta system currently, but just wondered as chromium & electron apps share a whole bunch of code of course [19:51] but maybe that fix broke chromium then :) [20:20] JanC: Considering Electron is chromium under the hood, you might be on to something, but the issues are only appearing in Impish. [20:22] well, parts of chromium at least (I would assume they remove some UI & Google integration parts from Chromium) [20:23] JanC: Yes. The Chromium engine. === genii is now known as genii-core
