[00:22] valorie- I think it's because Matrix lets you edit messages, so each edit comes through the IRC side as a separate message === genii is now known as genii-core [06:54] Does someone know, if it is possible to see preinstalled packages, without downloading and installing Kubuntu 21.10? [09:11] Hello! [09:11] How can I change the language displayed on the log in screen? I set my language to English during installation but it's giving me arabic on login because of my timezone I suppose [09:11] (not user settings, like the first thing I see when I turn on laptop) [09:12] In settings I have already set everything to English [09:20] Hello! This shows you all the system languages set. Change the ones you want. Is this by design or a bug? === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [22:21] I'm having some major issues with plasma. Firefox runs laggy. Steam runs laggy. Delayed response. I've done reinstalls. I've even gotten a new mobo, proc, ram, and went from an nvidia to an amd gpu and I'm still having issues. [22:24] is there any way to completely remove kubuntu-desktop and all associated config files for plasma and kwin. I've got configs I've been using for a couple years. Perhaps I need completely clean ones. [22:26] magic_ninja: being more specific about your hardware might help [22:26] what are the specs of your box? [22:27] also more specific about the "reinstalls" you've done [22:30] and ff and steam "running laggy" sounds more like a wi-fi issue (if you're using wi-fi) [22:31] internet connection issue (regardless) [22:34] Client: HexChat 2.14.3 • OS: Ubuntu "hirsute" 21.04 • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor (2.20GHz) • Memory: Physical: 30.5 GiB Total (26.3 GiB Free) Swap: 30.5 GiB Total (30.5 GiB Free) • Storage: 4.5 TB / 6.8 TB (2.3 TB Free) • VGA: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [22:35] and it isn't a latency issue, it is an over-all graphical response issue on all applications [22:35] all kidding aside, will you please donate you box to me? [22:35] :) [22:35] I'm still paying for it [22:36] i have 9 boxes running here that don't add up to that hardware power [22:36] I have kept a separate home folder and I'm thinking that I need to clear out my config files and start fresh [22:36] it is several years old [22:36] that _might_ be the issue, but you're not sure so you're just dumping stuff that might not be a problem [22:37] heh, you created a 30GB swap file! [22:37] lol [22:37] I'm at my wit's end [22:37] its for hibernate [22:37] yeah, i get it [22:38] all of my boxes put together don't add up to 30GB ram [22:38] the old rule of thumb was swap=2xram [22:38] these days i'm starting to think that swap should equal 1/2 ram (at most) [22:39] yea but I doubt I'll ever hit that 30gb ram AND hibernate since I don't have hibernate enabled [22:39] lol [22:40] jettison all existing configs, etc and do a clean install (reinstall) [22:40] start from scratch [22:40] i doubt i would notice a lag with that sort of hardware [22:41] it is certainly a software problem [22:41] i gotta lay down. I'm not feeling good at all [22:41] or faulty ram [22:41] that is always the wildcard [22:41] makes everything wonky [22:42] i doubt i had faulty ram in my old computer and then bought brand new faulty ram [22:42] coincidences happen [22:42] it isn't impossible, but I'm not going that route [22:42] i wouldn't either === genii is now known as genii-core
