RTG89So with Nouveou the system has some issues while booting up using the geforce gtx 1050 ti, whats the recommendation regarding the proprietary driver packages? Kinda need to ask inb4 it fails to boot completly after getting one of those. Theres a download offered by Nvidia and 7 proprietary drivers suggested by the driver settings themselves.04:51

RTG89aw damn.05:51
RTG89interesting. cura fails opening .stl files from my windows drive, copy it to my kubuntu drive and it opens from there. Im conceptualy aware as to why, (and solutions such as base64 encoding) im slightly surprised it fixes itself that easily.05:54

user|28can Kubuntu be ran from a live USB15:43
alkisgSure15:44
alkisgThat's what kubuntu.iso does15:44
user|28so just flashing the iso image to the USB and it's good to go?15:47
geniiUsually with dd under linux, yes15:48
geniiThe iso image is a hybrid one which can either be used to burn a DVD, or to make a live usb15:49
alkisgOr, you can use a tool like ventoy and write multiple .isos to the same usb15:52
user|45Checksum not matching for latest LTS download.  Pulled with wget with and without compression, then tried the swedish mirror.  Checksum SHOULD be `11bca68f3366b11c7887666124e0155c6e2fbe1350ab14f25cd15299ac8f68b5` but all downloads are consistently `fe7fca6d4445c3cc07b6ed06ab57e5a8bcdf34aeb097f1bcc17726f16ca0e16a` instead.  Can anyone else confirm?16:24
user|45I started this because i keep getting errors (on multiple machines now) trying to create install media, but if it were just corruption in transit the checksum wouldn't be consistent...16:24
user|45As a control I just downloaded the debian11 iso and checksums DO match there.16:34
user|45Downloading on my linode server, checksum matches.  A mate downloaded it and also got correct checksum.  Downloaded on my linode server, also gets correct checksum.  Download that copy on my server via SCP and it's fine too.  This appears to be Spectrum actively swapping out a compromised file for both the 21.04 and 20.04.3LTS ISOs.  Contacting17:17

IrcsomeBot<Halis> İ think, by design. While about flatpack, İ am not sure. Could be a KDE Neon thing (re @Preston: I notice that in discover I am for some applications not seeing the .deb but instead the snap or flatpak. Is this by design or a bug?)17:21
rghi18:08
rghow can I move swap file?18:08
rgas I know just creating a new one and setting /etc/fstab entry for it is not enough - there is a moment when swapon command is called and it needs to know the right file18:09
rg(I need all this because I installed Kubuntu with single / partition with btrfs and looks like it didn't create a separate subvolume for swap file automatically)18:10
user|45swapon/swapoff should use the FSTAB entry, IIRC18:14
user|45Also, if you're using btrfs, that actually supports dynamically creating volumes on a live filesystem.  You'll have to check the relevant documentation, but you should be able to make a swap partition inside btrfs, set up the fstab entry, and use that (if I'm not mistaken; haven't messed with that functionality much)18:15
rg@user|45 thanks, it's exactly what i'm going to do18:22
user|45You're welcome18:23
IrcsomeBot<jpkhawam> Hello, I want to ask if it's normal that Kubuntu is running a bit slow for me. Apps are lagging and freezing, and everything takes forever to open. I got 16gb RAM AMD ryzen 5 2500u, and it ran ubuntu, pop! And opensuse perfectly.19:30
IrcsomeBot<jpkhawam> Even gaming is freezing every few seconds. I installed preload but it really isn't doing anything19:31
IrcsomeBot<jpkhawam> Disk usage is stuck at 54.4% in system monitor app, but I don't have anything open besides discord and steam (both idle)19:32
IrcsomeBot<jpkhawam> Even after restarting laptop and not opening anything, disk usage reaches a minimum of 54.3%19:37
IrcsomeBot<jpkhawam> I'm not using anything19:37
