GridClouddoes anyone knows if a Lexar NM610 M.2 drive would be recognized by current release?13:10
gnrpGridCloud: I am not aware of *any* SSD not being recognized by Linux13:11
GridCloudthen. you need to read more13:12

tomreynGridCloud: i loooked for existing bug reports on the web, searching for     linux OR ubuntu OR debian Lexar "NM610"    and only found two such reports, neither of which could results in such an issue getting sorted, if there is one that's generic: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1359887/ubuntu-18-04-and-20-04-fails-to-install-on-lexar-500gb-nm610-m-2-nvme-ssd https://www.reddit.com/r/linux4noobs/comments/izjzy0/the_ext4_file_system_creation_in_p19:04

tomreynsecond link again: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux4noobs/comments/izjzy0/the_ext4_file_system_creation_in_partition_2_of/19:05
tomreynGridCloud: if you say this is a generic, model specific issue, then i recommend to report a bug against the kernel, in ubuntu (on launchpad) as well as against bugzilla.kernel.org (or the respoective mailing lsit, i'm not sure where exactly this one would go)19:06
GridCloudI don't know if it has issues, haven't tested it yet, but my googlin scared me so i asked. I will test it tomorrow when I finally get the mobo from the store, but if i needed to chsnge the dribe it would have been easier to just take it to the store before opening the box19:12
GridCloudBut from what I can see it seems like it should work in newer releases 19:13
tomreyni assume you're referring to "I was able to get Ubuntu 21.04 to work with my SSD." on the above askubuntu.com post now?19:14
tomreynthe only quirk i see on the kernel for a lexar nvme is https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/drivers/nvme/host/pci.c#n3336 - but that's just 256GB, whereas NM610 seems to be 1 TB.19:20
tomreyndebugging that led to the above code change https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2841719:31
ubottubugs.mageia.org bug 28417 in Mageia "Installation problem device nvme PCIe Lexar model: 256GB SSD with Mageia Kernel" [Normal, Resolved: Fixed]19:31
