alterjsiveI just tried to upgrade ubuntu 21.04, the installer said that I dont have enough space on /boot while I have 380GB available. Is this because of my full disk encryption?12:50
alterjsiveI clearly have enough space :/12:51

ruifmfHi13:00
ruifmf...anyway! «do-release-upgrade» says «Welcome to... development release.» even after I changed (source) from my regular mirror to main server13:02
alterjsivenever u mind fixed it by deleting old kernels13:04
ruifmf@alterjsive is that answer intended for me?13:05
alterjsiveah no sorry13:08
alterjsiveruifmf: I just followed the upgrade guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ImpishUpgrades/Kubuntu13:14
ruifmfyes, that is what I am following13:14
ruifmfI'm guessing the upgrade command shouldn't have a «-d» switch for that is for development relaezse upgrades13:19
ruifmfyep, that seem to work13:20
ruifmfso...13:20
ruifmfbugreport13:20
ruifmfremove «-d» from upgrade instructions13:21
ruifmf...upgrading...13:23

IrcsomeBot<Halis> @alterjsive You can unlock your encrypted disk first and maybe then it will work (re @IrcsomeBot: <alterjsive> I just tried to upgrade ubuntu 21.04, the installer said that I dont have enough space on /boot while I have 380GB available. Is this because of my full disk encryption?)14:58
IrcsomeBot<Halis> İ am also interested, if that is possible (re @IrcsomeBot: <sysdoc> Does anyone have an idea on how to get the touch pad on a laptop to use pinch gestures in Firefox and Thunderbird for zoom in and out?)14:58
IrcsomeBot<Halis> İ found a source saying that multi-touch gestures are possible only with wayland15:05
IrcsomeBot<Halis> İ found a source saying that multi-touch gestures are possible only with wayland (but İ can not imagine that to be true, since scrolling also worked in earlier versions)15:06
RTG89Uhm can i write an MBR on a disk that doesnt have one during the install of kubuntu? The M.2 drive i added appears to be recognised by windows, but does not have a master boot record on it. Also, havent used an M.2 drive before at all, do i just use it like a normal drive? I mean, yes, partitioning unless its for seperate operating systems and such isnt neccessary like it would be on classical HDDs, i understand that, but its also16:21
RTG89not really a problem, either, or i dont think it should be anyways.16:21
alkisgRTG89: the most common format now is gpt, not mbr16:27
alkisgRTG89: M.2 are normal disks like all others yeah; if you want, upload the output of `sudo parted -l`16:28
RTG89alkisg, huh or GPT. Just reading up on the differences, my existing drives have an MBR though so i dont know if there could be a conflict or i have to boot in EFI or sthg if i want to boot from a GPT drive?  The advantages seem minor in any event, at least for my purposes16:42
alkisgRTG89: GPT usually also has a dummy MBR wrapper. If you want to boot from a GPT driver in BIOS mode, you also need a bios_grub partition16:43
alkisgSince your M.2 disk isn't over 2 TB, and since you're booting in BIOS mode, sure go for MBR then16:44
alkisgIn general, newer installations come with UEFI. E.g. I just installed ubuntu-mate 21.10 and it complained "no efi partition" even though I booted in BIOS/MBR mode :D16:44
RTG89hehe, well yeah im certainly getting old ;)16:48
alkisgEh, I started with the OS in floppy disks, so... :)16:49
RTG89Slightly before my time i guess? Well, at least that OS's primarily came on floppy disks,16:57
RTG89Though even windows 98 could still install from floppies and by then i was certainly around.16:59

alkisgDOS was usually launched directly from floppies17:15

IrcsomeBot<bsost_Brendon> Ouais tis looking good need to get a tarp or something to keep the sun off, & mostire/heat in, but otherwise good to go : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/8e849d43/file_48420.jpg17:26
oerheksbsost_brendon, how is that related to kubuntu support?17:29
IrcsomeBot<typicallinukss> Ребят, подскажите вопрос не по теме немного - нужен ли fail2ban если аутентификация по ssh ТОЛЬКО по ключу?17:51
IrcsomeBot<bongwitcher> sure it's Kubuntu-specific? (also use English)17:55
oerhekstypicallinukss , i would.18:05
user|64Hello guys. I got sound problems with my Intel HDA on kubuntu 20.04. Am I the only one with this problem? Sometimes the sound works, but only sometimes. Will there be a update?18:26
