Is this because of my full disk encryption? [12:51] I clearly have enough space :/ === rui is now known as ruifmf [13:00] ping? [13:00] Hi [13:02] ...anyway! «do-release-upgrade» says «Welcome to... development release.» even after I changed (source) from my regular mirror to main server [13:04] never u mind fixed it by deleting old kernels [13:05] @alterjsive is that answer intended for me? [13:08] ah no sorry [13:14] ruifmf: I just followed the upgrade guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ImpishUpgrades/Kubuntu [13:14] yes, that is what I am following [13:19] I'm guessing the upgrade command shouldn't have a «-d» switch for that is for development relaezse upgrades [13:20] yep, that seem to work [13:20] so... [13:20] bugreport [13:21] remove «-d» from upgrade instructions [13:23] ...upgrading... [13:23] bye [13:33] Removed -d from the upgrade guide. [13:57] Hi folks === WildSoft_ is now known as WildSoft [14:48] i was running 21.10 beta with no issues. now that it has been released, should i install the release version, or does it upgrade itself? [14:52] just upgrade with your package manager or apt [14:53] great, thanks BluesKaj [14:53] yw, airsoftmodels [14:58] @alterjsive You can unlock your encrypted disk first and maybe then it will work (re @IrcsomeBot: I just tried to upgrade ubuntu 21.04, the installer said that I dont have enough space on /boot while I have 380GB available. Is this because of my full disk encryption?) [14:58] İ am also interested, if that is possible (re @IrcsomeBot: Does anyone have an idea on how to get the touch pad on a laptop to use pinch gestures in Firefox and Thunderbird for zoom in and out?) [15:05] İ found a source saying that multi-touch gestures are possible only with wayland [15:06] İ found a source saying that multi-touch gestures are possible only with wayland (but İ can not imagine that to be true, since scrolling also worked in earlier versions) [16:21] Uhm can i write an MBR on a disk that doesnt have one during the install of kubuntu? The M.2 drive i added appears to be recognised by windows, but does not have a master boot record on it. Also, havent used an M.2 drive before at all, do i just use it like a normal drive? I mean, yes, partitioning unless its for seperate operating systems and such isnt neccessary like it would be on classical HDDs, i understand that, but its also [16:21] not really a problem, either, or i dont think it should be anyways. [16:27] RTG89: the most common format now is gpt, not mbr [16:28] RTG89: M.2 are normal disks like all others yeah; if you want, upload the output of `sudo parted -l` [16:42] alkisg, huh or GPT. Just reading up on the differences, my existing drives have an MBR though so i dont know if there could be a conflict or i have to boot in EFI or sthg if i want to boot from a GPT drive? The advantages seem minor in any event, at least for my purposes [16:43] RTG89: GPT usually also has a dummy MBR wrapper. If you want to boot from a GPT driver in BIOS mode, you also need a bios_grub partition [16:44] Since your M.2 disk isn't over 2 TB, and since you're booting in BIOS mode, sure go for MBR then [16:44] In general, newer installations come with UEFI. E.g. I just installed ubuntu-mate 21.10 and it complained "no efi partition" even though I booted in BIOS/MBR mode :D [16:48] hehe, well yeah im certainly getting old ;) [16:49] Eh, I started with the OS in floppy disks, so... :) [16:57] Slightly before my time i guess? Well, at least that OS's primarily came on floppy disks, [16:59] Though even windows 98 could still install from floppies and by then i was certainly around. === marc__ is now known as M-Linux [17:15] DOS was usually launched directly from floppies [17:15] While for windows 3.0 we usually used little disks [17:16] (hards disks) [17:26] Ouais tis looking good need to get a tarp or something to keep the sun off, & mostire/heat in, but otherwise good to go : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/8e849d43/file_48420.jpg [17:29] bsost_brendon, how is that related to kubuntu support? [17:51] Ребят, подскажите вопрос не по теме немного - нужен ли fail2ban если аутентификация по ssh ТОЛЬКО по ключу? [17:55] sure it's Kubuntu-specific? (also use English) [18:05] typicallinukss , i would. [18:26] Hello guys. I got sound problems with my Intel HDA on kubuntu 20.04. Am I the only one with this problem? Sometimes the sound works, but only sometimes. Will there be a update? === WildSoft_ is now known as WildSoft [18:45] How do I upgrade to the latest kubuntu 21.10? [18:52] Veektony, from which kubuntu version? [18:53] upgrade path is open in softwareupdates, for 21.04 that is [19:00] 21.04 (re @IrcsomeBot: Veektony, from which kubuntu version?) [19:01] if the uprade path does not appear, run sudo apt full-upgrade [19:01] * and reboot probably [19:01] Thank (re @IrcsomeBot: if the uprade path does not appear, run sudo apt full-upgrade) [19:05] OK === WildSoft_ is now known as WildSoft [21:26] Hi guys.. how r u? I supposed it released but both apt update and dist-upgrade don't do anything
