StyXmanI just upgraded to kubuntu impish and now C-. opens a input method miniwindow. I think it's trying to insert an emoji, how do I get rid of this [censored]?12:27
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl> Hi! I'm having problems running Discover after upgrading from 21.04 to 21.10. I can't see installed nor available for installation apps (but I can see plasma addons). If I run it with sudo it works ok.12:31
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl> Launching on terminal w/o sudo this is what it says:12:31
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl> plasma-discover12:31
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl> ...12:31
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl>  (process:1147): CRITICAL : 18:52:05.210: Unable to open temporary cache: Unable to open temporary cache file: Permiso denegado12:31
StyXmanuse sudo?12:38
StyXmanno, the other way around, maybe you used sudo before and now it can't open some files12:38
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl> Could be, but Idon't remember ding that. I reinstalled plasma-discover and deleted .cache/discover but problem persist.12:44
IrcsomeBot<HMollerCl> It worked fine in 21.04, after upgrade to 21.10 the problem started. It appears to be a permission problem, but I don't know how to fix it.12:45

DaneGeldHello! I wonder if you'd be kind enough to help me.  I'm currently running Kubuntu 21.10 and receiving messages warning me that my root partition is almost full.  I've tried to resize it (using the remaining 1.6GB on the disk) but it won't allow me to do so because / is mounted.  I asked in the other place first and was advised you'd moved. I had no idea :)16:53
oerheksDaneGeld, remove old unused kernels?17:05
DaneGeldDone17:05
DaneGeldI've also completed an apt-get autoremove which took off 2271 files17:06
oerheksand those messages still appear?17:06
DaneGeldyep17:06
DaneGeldI only have 460MB of a near on 20GB root partition left17:07
oerhekssudo apt-get autoremove --purge #might help17:08
oerheksstandard kubuntu would install in one apartition, to avoid these situations17:08
DaneGeldOk, I'll try the autoremove with a purge.  My kubuntu installation is dualbooted with Windows 10 on a 500GB disk17:09
DaneGeldMost of that has unfortunately been eaten by MS.17:10
oerheksCore dumps filling up the disk too , check out /var/crash/17:11
oerheksor with systemd; coredumpctl list17:11
oerhekssystemd-tmpfiles --clean17:12
DaneGeldThe autoremove purge didn't help.  0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 2 not to upgrade.17:12
oerheksinstall those 2 held back: sudo apt dist-upgrade # and reboot17:15
alkisgDaneGeld: you need to boot from a live cd to resize the root partition17:21
DaneGeldOk.  I'll have to hunt out a USB stick or a memory card. I haven't had any installation media for ages! The laptop I'm using is an ex-work one and we already had W10 and Kubuntu on it!17:23
alkisgWorkarounds exists; e.g. you could even download an iso in the disk and load it to memory and boot from that without a stick; but if you can find a stick, it'll be much easier17:25

DaneGeldI've found a blank 32GB SD memory card.  Would it be possible to boot from that?17:36
alkisgIf your BIOS supports it, sure17:37
DaneGeldOk, I'll give it a go17:38
DaneGeldgotta go, back in a few moments17:41
