PinkfishHello Gen04:43
PinkfishHDMI monitor speaker is not working, i tried to reinstall pulse audio, no luck. Any suggestion to fix it ?04:45
KBarHi. Does it appear in the 'Output Devices' section of Audio Mixer?04:48
Pinkfishlet me have a look and confirm04:50
Pinkfishits 'HDMI/DisplayPort 3 (plugged in)'04:51
KBarBut the sound is still coming from some other channel?04:51
Pinkfishyeah, headphones are working.04:51
Pinkfishit only not with HDMI04:52
KBarTry selecting Headphones and switch back to HDMI.04:52
PinkfishIs this is a trick or what ? let me try  :) hold on please.04:54
KBarIf it doesn't help, try playing with settings under Configuration tab.04:54
KBarKind of. PulseAudio may act weird on some hardware, so you have to try tricks in order for it to work properly.04:55
PinkfishPlugged in headphones which is working fine, tried to flip back to HDMI -> no luck04:58
KBarShare the output of `pactl list sinks`. Use paste.ubuntu.com05:02
Pinkfishok05:04
PinkfishHere you go https://pastebin.com/2eyti07x05:06
KBarThank you. Let me look through it.05:09
PinkfishThat was with headphone connected.05:11
KBarTry with HDMI as the only available output. (no headphones, etc.)05:14
Pinkfishok05:14
PinkfishHold on please05:14
PinkfishHere you go, this with HDMI only, headphones disconnected. https://pastebin.com/2gN8KacL05:16
KBar`pactl set-sink-mute alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.hdmi-stereo-extra2 1`05:18
KBarthis mutes it 05:18
KBar`pactl set-sink-mute alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.hdmi-stereo-extra2 0`05:18
KBarthis unmutes it again05:19
KBarafter that05:19
Pinkfishlet me try that05:19
KBartry modifying this file: ~/.config/pulse/*-default-sink05:21
KBarfrom `alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.analog-stereo` to `alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.hdmi-stereo-extra2`05:22
PinkfishIts already like what you mentioned05:24
Pinkfishmute and unmute, still not working05:25
PinkfishAlso  ~/.config/pulse/*-default-sink has this alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.hdmi-stereo-extra205:26
KBaronly this line, correct?05:27
Pinkfishyeah its correct, its already like what you mentioned to changes, so no change needed05:27
KBarin file /etc/pulse/default.pa comment this line: load-module module-suspend-on-idle05:27
KBar# load-module module-suspend-on-idle05:28
Pinkfishdone05:30
Pinkfishwhats now05:30
KBar`pactl set-default-sink alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1f.3.hdmi-stereo-extra2`05:31
KBarand finally05:31
KBarmodify the priority of hdmi-stereo-2 05:32
KBarin this file: /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/hdmi-stereo-205:33
KBarpriority = 10005:33
KBarand restart pulseaudio05:34
KBarsee if it helped05:34
Pinkfishok05:35
KBarpulseaudio -k | kills current active PA server05:36
KBarpulseaudio -D | start again fully daemonized05:36
PinkfishAbove commands are not working05:40
PinkfishI used this systemctl --user restart pulseaudio05:40
PinkfishAnd not luck still audio not coming up05:41
Pinkfishlooking at this https://pastebin.com/2gN8KacL , alsa.id is mapped to HDMI 2, is that correct ?05:41
KBaryes05:42
Pinkfishhmm, but im using HDMI 3, is that still correct ?05:43

Pinkfishok05:49

KBaris there sound if you use this alsa test utility?06:12
KBarspeaker-test --channels 2 --rate 48000 --device default06:12
Pinkfishnope.06:13
KBarare you sure monitor speakers work?06:14
Pinkfishhere is that doubt, it was working 2 days ago06:15
Pinkfishi have to boot up windows harddrive to test the monitor speaker06:15
Pinkfishwill come back06:15
KBar2 things: 06:15
Pinkfishhmm, what are they06:15
KBarfirst, try restarting your xubuntu system but with your HDMI monitor already connected. or better yet shut it down, unplug the monitor, plug it again, make sure its turned on, then start your computer06:16
KBarsecond, as you said, try a different OS/computer/port06:17
KBargl06:17
