=== ses is now known as Guest9361 [06:50] Hello everyone! I was wondering how I can disable the "blur" things in Kubuntu - like the taskbar blur. I want opaque taskbar (panel). Pressing those keys seems to activate some kind of Preview hot-key even though the editor has input focus! [15:33] TJ-, I recall a user complaining about a similar issue with markdown a few months ago, but I don't know whether the user was able to find a solution. [15:34] I can't even find (so far) where the plugin might configure any such hot-keys so a bit lost at the moment - quite annoying whilst editing, I can tell you! [15:36] right, kind of beyond my scope :/ [15:51] it seems like the number keys are tied to the annotation types; when pressed a tool-tip pops up with one of the default annotation type names - but plugin doesn't seem to have any way to control those, nor a way to stop it sharing input focus with the Kate editor. === genii-core is now known as genii [16:05] the viewer is actually Okular - using it's Keyboard Shortcuts options cannot find any hotkeys that map these annotations [16:07] aha https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/okular/okular/annotations.html [16:07] "To add some annotations to the document, you have to use Quick Annotations button on the main Okular toolbar or activate the annotating toolbar. This is done by either selecting Tools → Annotations or pressing F6. Once the annotating toolbar is shown, just press one of its buttons or use keyboard shortcuts (keys from 1 to 9) to start constructing that annotation" [16:07] so it looks like the previewer is forcing that mode even if user in Kate has Annotations disabled [16:09] so, this looks to be a bug that despite toggling Annotations off in the menu they're not actually disabled - and seem to be enabled by default [16:10] * alkisg switched to vscode for markdown, including the markdown-it extension for table editing, admonitions etc... [16:16] that's a rather heavyweight solution! [16:24] Eh, it's already there for shell, c, python, html and a whole lot of others, why not use it for markdown too... [16:33] Hi! I can't install new softwares in Ubuntu Studio? I mean other softs than are installed by OS installer. [16:34] ferencz: this channel is for Kubuntu not Ubuntu Studio, which has its own channel [16:35] Sorry. I'm out [18:30] hi [18:30] how are you? [18:42] Hey. I'm having some issues with installing kubuntu on my new machine. I just tried my 3rd usb drive, checksum is OK, doesn't complain about anything during the usb bootup media check but either attempting trying ubuntu out or installing it freezes at one point or another. I have not WIFI option. I suspect I need to download some drivers to a flash drive. Are there any instrucitons available? [19:25] user|45: journalctl -b | grep DMI: should tell you which macbook model you have, which should enable you to find a tutorial online. [19:26] user|45: lspci -knn | grep -EA3 '(Network|Ethernet) controller' should list details on the wireless interface / shipset, and you could use that to look up the driver you need. === winkoerades is now known as winko [23:08] Turns out that was a bad ram issue. Anyhow got something new to ask. I've got a nas but while dolphin is generating thumbnaisl for my images, it seems to be really slow at it and thumbnails are forgotten after I change folder in the SMB share. Any hints on how to make dolphin keep the generated thumbnails? [23:23] @TimoSalola -- could you have permissions problems somewhere in your $HOME? [23:23] sounds like they are being saved only to .tmp or so [23:23] !permissions [23:23] An explanation of what file permissions are and how they can be manipulated can be found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FilePermissions [23:24] if you have ever used sudo when it wasn't needed, permissions can be changed [23:25] Hmm I managed to install 21.10 just a few hours ago. Still configuring everything. Haven't changed permissions as far as I'm aware [23:30] ok, then my explanation is bunk [23:31] I suggest asking in #kde where some dolphin devels might hang out [23:31] or ask on their devel [23:31] list [23:32] oh, there is #dolphin [23:32] amazing [23:32] ah thanks, freenode I presume? [23:32] could be tiny and quiet and only active during euro-working hours [23:33] hmm, have not used freenode in awhile since it was taken by hostile powerz [23:33] I use libera.chat as does Ubuntu and KDE [23:33] ah hmm, which network do you people operate on? This telegram bridge is well just a telegram bridge and it doesn't tell me [23:33] and matrix and telegram [23:34] libera.chat [23:34] not all chans bridge tho [23:36] I found a webchat, web.libera.chat which presumably takes me to the right place. Can't find the #dolphin channel though, it seems like it's just empty [23:37] it might not have made the jump, sadly
