=== UnSeeN is now known as Guest113 [06:17] Hi. What could be the reason (or how to follow whole chain of whats happening step after step) that: [06:17] 1) computer locks in to xcreensaver and goes to sleep [06:17] 2) i wake it up, login in to xscreensaver [06:17] 3) xscreensaver unlocks screen [06:18] 4) !!! and computer goeas right away into deep sleep - and only power button wakes it up again [06:18] 5) i wake it up - and only now i'm in desktop [06:18] what release ihavenick ? [06:19] Lubuntu 17.0 [06:19] But upgraded on top of 16.x something [06:19] doring distro upgrade [06:19] The oldest supported release of Lubuntu is Lubuntu 20.04 LTS (ie. 2020-APril release) [06:20] oh I mean lxde 17.0 :) [06:20] Lubuntu uses LXQt and doesn't support LXDE [06:20] distro is 21.10 [06:21] fck i ment LXQT :) [06:21] So: distro is lubuntu 21.10, with LXQT 17.0 [06:22] Upgraded on top of Lubuntu 20.04, with LXQT 16.x something [06:23] Anyway. What could you say about my problem - how to fix that wrong sleep, lock, unlock, and it sleeps again, and the nunlock without pass seequesnce [06:24] I'm trying to think; I believe I've experienced this before on a laptop; but never worked out the issue; and something I know I tried prior to issue solved isn't possible on a non-LTS release like 21.10. Sorry I can't think of anything. [06:26] I suspect the issue isn't desktop (LXQt) specific, as I experienced it also with Xfce/Xubuntu on same laptop [06:26] Yes it's laptop. What steps would you suggest to take to even begin understanding/debug this order of events/executions? [06:27] Plain ubuntu on same laptop works perfectly ok :) [06:27] I mean with gnome everything is ok. [06:30] Without xscreensaver everything is also kinda of ok. The only thing I don't like is to leave unlocked laptop, while going away for a minute or two. So I use it basicaly only for locking through crl+alt+L shortcut. [06:30] Maybe someone could suggest a better method to lock screen manualy and auto after x minutes, without using xscreensaver? [06:31] I understand that (wanting to use screen locking), but I'm struggling to think of I'd do (except I kept going down wrong parts)... asking the question on Lubuntu's discourse maybe worthwhile; ie. hopefully more eyes that can read & return if they think of ideas etc. [06:32] s/think of I'd/think of what I'd do/ ^ sorry bad typos [06:33] (no problem about typos, I'm non native english speaker - I don't even see them :), it reads well xD ) [06:33] How do you lock screen? [06:34] i mean yourself [06:34] thoughts i have: has it always done this; was it only after a specific day; I looked for change(s) (files with datestamps in days before day it started for me for changes) ... I never felt like I found fixed; was fighting it awhile & then issue was resolved... me I use xscreensaver or the default [06:35] s/found fixed/found fix/ ^ [06:38] Well its been from the first day i have met xscreensaver (hello ugly friend). I earlier used lubuntu 18.04 LTS and it was perfect :) no such ugly friends. [06:40] I was wondering why lubuntu lxqt even chose to use it (xscreensaver). As whole sequence of sleeping, locking, unlocking, slepping again - was symptomatic from the verry start. [06:40] LXQt doesn't have a lockscreen (like LXDE didn't); Lubuntu use xscreensaver to do that.... [06:42] you could try telling screensaver to just 'Blank Screen Only' of course (ie. no screensaver) & just operate as lock/unlock https://manual.lubuntu.me/stable/3/3.2/3.2.19/screensaver.html [06:42] Well, I never saw xscreensaver on LXDE (and I had lxde at least since lubuntu 16.04 LTS tik 18.04 LTS) [06:43] It locked simply into login screen. [06:43] maybe even "Disable Screen Saver" - I just did a quick here it and still acts as locker for me [06:44] I'll try again, even if I'have already tried this. [06:45] yeah you maybe correct (& I"m wrong ihavenick); i see light-locker on https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic-updates/lubuntu-desktop and no xscreensaver - maybe I added it [06:45] added it to my box ^ [06:45] The problem is not ugliness or having enabled/disabled xscreensaver. Problem is that after unlocking from it - computer still goes to sleep. As if xscreensaver somehow blocks normal sleep cycle and it doesnt begin. Just waits. [06:45] And then exscreensaver quits locking, then going to sleep continues. [06:46] i realize that's the issue; as I've stated i've experienced it on a thinkpad x201 I believe [06:47] here is Thinkpad X1 Carbon gen 6, with I7-85550u, 16Gb ram [06:50] all I can suggest is leaving a question on our forum/discourse (https://discourse.lubuntu.me/) and hopefully you'll get a response with time... I can always play with my x201 (it has 20.04 on it I believe now) & see if anything comes back to me (memory wise) [06:52] Well, anyway, at least I have vented. Thanks guiverc. It pissed me so, that I even tried to migrate to gnome :), the only thing that stopped me is that the don't have whole power of openbox for shortctuts and windows mannagement - e.g. no way to resize window to specific size. [06:53] You're most welcome, sorry I couldn't think of much [06:53] Then openbox will be deprecated, LXQT will go to the same honored but dead land of former friend, like LXDE (sadly) have gone. [06:53] :) cheers [06:55] s/^then/when if/, s/friend/friends === guiverc2 is now known as guiverc [13:15] salut [13:28] salut [13:28] salut [13:30] https://rassemblementnational.fr/ [13:33] labotechno1 a piraté votre ordinateur [13:34] vasi bb repond [13:34] ho oui bb [13:43] je viens de la lune [13:45] hijo de la luna https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjPgLLYlLb0AhUKSvEDHWy8AnMQ3yx6BAgIEAI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D0iq9NeOCSNs&usg=AOvVaw3oQO80fQC09CFkTpl4-CDX [13:55] je" suis de retour :) [13:56] slurp [15:43] can I upgrade to the impish version? [15:43] I think I have a spring version [15:45] that's depend on which srping [15:45] run lsb_release -ds in a terminal to tell [15:45] If you have 21.04 then yes, you can upgrade to 21.10. I would advise you to make sure you have backup before proceeding. [15:46] 21.04 === genii-core is now known as genii
