schopinHi desktopers! Back for ppp again (under your umbrella as a NM dependency, I believe). It depends on OpenSSL, and it has basically no build-time testing nor any autopkgtest. I don't suppose you know of a test protocol somewhere that I could manually run?09:18
didrocksseb128: on verra si ce n’est que le début ou si ça s’améliore avec le temps…09:19
dufluMorning didrocks, jibel, seb128 09:26

seb128didrocks, oui :-/10:16
seb128schopin, sorry, I don't think we have anyone who knows or maintain it, we basically inherit from Debian and do merges, I'm not even sure we have anyone with hardware for testing it10:17

schopinseb128: fwiw most uses of ppp don't necessitate any specific hardware. But yes, I can see how this package would be a bit outside your wheelhouse :)10:20
seb128schopin, if it's blocking the transition I would just upload what you think is right, we will get reports if it's buggy and it's still early in the cycle.10:21
schopinA simple no-change upload would be nice. I tested the build locally this morning and it went fine.10:22
seb128schopin, and see, my comment shows how little I know about what ppp is doing exactly, I though it was essentially dealing with modems10:22
seb128schopin, feel free to upload one, or do you want us to do that?10:23
schopinI'll lump it in my list of main packages to upload and bother someone on my team then, it'll be easier.10:23
seb128thanks10:23

schopinMe again! Any plans on updating freerdp2 from 2.3.0 to 2.4.1 this cycle? That last one brings OpenSSL 3 support. Alternatively, I have a patch ready (LP: #1945771)13:06
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1945771 in freerdp2 (Ubuntu) "freerdp2: Fail to build against OpenSSL 3.0" [Undecided, New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/194577113:06
seb128schopin, we will not be surprised at this point if I tell you again that we usually get that one from Debian and have no real dedicated maintainer which an answer for you? ;-)13:51
seb128schopin, I would like to see it updated though, the update has some CVE fixes and performance improvements that would be nice to get for the LTS. I see Debian reports about the CVE but no reply from the maintainer so far13:52
seb128schopin, whether you want to upload the patch or wait probably depends on how much of how close you are to finish the openssl transition13:54
schopinTBH I'd rather update to a newer upstream than carry a patch, that makes it easier to detect issues down the line.13:55
seb128schopin, when do you need the update done? I can work on that, but that seems more likely a monday thing than before eow at this point13:55
schopinI'm in a marathon, not a sprint. THis package might block a few others down the line (I think?) but it's not the only one by far.13:57
schopinMonday sounds fine to me :)13:58
seb128k, I will work on the update14:01
schopinThanks a lot!14:02
GunnarHjseb128, schopin: I just sponsored it. Isn't it preferable to get the transition done ASAP?14:03
seb128GunnarHj, shrug :-(14:05
GunnarHjseb128: Saw your discussion only afterwards.. :/14:06
seb128ah ok, already then14:06
seb128alright14:06
seb128GunnarHj, from what I understand from the backlog that transition isn't going to be over this week in any case, so waiting a few days to do the update isn't going to delay anything14:07
schopinGunnarHj: short term, yes (notably for my own sanity). But from a security standpoint I'd rather carry as few OpenSSL-related patches as possible.14:07
seb128GunnarHj, thanks for doing some sponsoring :-)14:07
schopinyes, that too ^ :-)14:07
seb128GunnarHj, and sorry, I didn't even say hey, how are you doing?14:07
GunnarHjschopin: Ack.14:08
GunnarHjseb128: yw. I'm alright, thanks. Hope you are as well.14:09
seb128GunnarHj, I am, thanks!14:26
oSoMoNhey GunnarHj, I rebuilt the firefox snap in the candidate channel with the new snapcraft for all supported architectures, and consequently I closed the candidate/snapcraft6 branch14:29
GunnarHjoSoMoN: Thanks for the hint. Then I'll switch channel again.14:31
GunnarHj* True winter here. -4°C and snowing.14:31
oSoMoNGunnarHj, I the switch might happen automatically, when a channel you were tracking is closed14:32
oSoMoNi.e. candidate/snapcraft6 will fall back to candidate14:32
GunnarHjOk, good.14:32
oSoMoNs/I the switch/I think the switch/14:32
oSoMoNso it was just a FYI14:32
seb128didrocks, sorry but I ended up sending another MIR your way, bug #1952924, it basically replace the wireplumber one for this cycle14:54
ubottuBug 1952924 in pipewire-media-session (Ubuntu) "[MIR] pipewire-media-session" [Undecided, New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/195292414:54
seb128didrocks, hopefully it's an easy one, it's a split of code that was part of pipewire until impish14:55
didrockswe will dispatch it at our next meeting15:19
didrocksbut second time reviewing a MIR for nothing, as we need to rereview it one propsoed next cycle15:19
didrocksI’ll look for the correct status to set there15:20
didrockshowever, you need to subscribe ubuntu-mir on the second MIR for us to pick it up15:20
seb128didrocks, ah right, thanks. Well it's not nothing, we still want pipewire default and will need wireplumber, but that's post LTS now15:22
seb128sorry, we lack an audio maintainer, I'm still unsure what's the right decision between those15:23
seb128I mean I decided to go that way but I'm not confident it's the right choice, but we need to make one15:23
didrocksno worry15:23
