guivercBashing-om, https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/bernard-stafford/25315 is private or errors.. ; member of Ubuntu & Ubuntu membership? why two differing methods if the same thing?  (New Members & Devs)01:32
Bashing-omguiverc: Do not know --- lemme see what I can find out !01:34
Bashing-omguiverc: Got a replacement link - fixing :)01:38
* guiverc still reading01:38
guivercfyi;  I've suggested removing a "Han" from one on gdoc; of no importance though01:40
guivercread thru complete; looks good Bashing-om 01:42
Bashing-omguiverc: Links for ther new memeds adjusted, try them and make sure is not my cache that completes the links correctly, please.// As to "Han" I am not sure of how to present the proper name in a language other than English . sur names ?01:48
Bashing-omnew members*01:49
guivercgreat point - yep leave it as it is Youngbin Han01:49
guivercboth links open Bashing-om ; but I still wonder why "member of Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu membership" rather than being the same01:51
Bashing-omguiverc: Agreed should be the same - looking and fixing !01:52
Bashing-omguiverc: On the membership - guess I was distraught over not finding a suitable M/L link - and having to use the backup, that I did not heed what I was pasting :(01:56
guivercI miss things all the time, reading not what's there/was typed, but what I intended to type... happens to all of us01:56
Bashing-omguiverc: Yepper - a 3rd set of eyes for proof-reading is a good thing :D01:57
krytarikTwo things regarding the New Members and Devs section: 1.) In this issue we got three four styles of mentioning IRC nick or LP username, on the same number of items, ranging from in the middle of the name, through in parentheses after the full name, through only stating it as the name, to not mentioning it at all..  2.) Should drop the post suffix from the Discourse links, so e.g. ...02:03
krytarik... "https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/bernard-stafford-membership-application/25395" rather than "https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/bernard-stafford-membership-application/25395/11" as it is now.02:03
Bashing-omkrytarik: Ack - fixing again :)02:08
Bashing-omkrytarik: All set to the same format/style for "new Members" items.02:20
krytarikYeah, not mentioning either of LP username and IRC nick I guess is the best way to go here, since rather often they are different ones and I'm not sure which of the two to prefer then..02:25
krytarikDon't need a trailing slash on the Discourse links though.02:25
Bashing-omkrytarik: Going by the link's nameing of the recipients :) .. will remove those trailing slashes :)02:27
Bashing-omUWN: edits again caught up - removed trailing slashes.02:29
krytarikOn the Ubuntu +1 Maintenance Reports, how did you do it the last month?  Since I think it looks misleading to list the link to the new month in a sub-bullet.02:29
Bashing-omkrytarik: I believe I did it same - let me look and see what I did last month.02:30
krytarikAnd well, in case of uncertainty about the full name or if it's not mentioned at the source at all (like for jawn-smith here), we can always go with what LP knows about the user..02:33
krytarikOh heh, in the case just mentioned it's only in the mail subject line though, just not in the mail text - and I was looking at only the latter right now.. >_<02:35
Bashing-omkrytarik:  +1 Maintenance Reports >> what I had done in the past is a full colon after the first link, new line for the following link.02:38
krytarikWhat issue number was that then?02:38
Bashing-omkrytarik: 703/02:41
krytarikColon seems odd there, a slash or a pipe come to my mind as more appropriate alternatives right now..02:44
Bashing-omkrytarik: Slash seems good to me - will make it so :D02:45
krytarikJust having tried both on the HTML page, in fact the pipe seems to look the best..02:46
Bashing-omkrytarik: Pipe it is, looks good :D02:49
krytarik\o/02:49
Bashing-omkrytarik: In the "New Members" listings - we want to add the user nicknames in parens as given in LP ?02:51
krytarikWell, not even all people have IRC nicks listed there though, like one of these didn't either..02:53
krytarikAnd like I indicated, often they are wildly different from the LP username, and then we get to decide which of the two to use..02:53
Bashing-omkrytarik: My thought is recognition of the person. most are known by thier nick rather than their given names.02:55
krytarikIf we want to prefer the IRC nick, then I think we should mention it only if it's clearly stated on the person's LP profile for the Libera network - and otherwise don't mention the LP username instead, because then it starts to be an issue of recognizing which of the two types it is, and while I thought of just prefixing the latter with the tilde then, I don't trust it always being done and  ...03:06
krytarik... it also looks odd..03:06
Bashing-omkrytarik: All my reference notes indicate the given name to be used.03:09
krytarikBtw, as it turns out from the channel logs, Tim Gardner in this case does use "rtg" on Libera too now, while just not having registered it yet.03:10
krytarikIf by that you mean establishing the IRC nick someway else than their LP profile, like I've done in this case, then yes that works too of course.03:12
Bashing-omkrytarik: That is only in the event we decide to use a nickname - then in what format.03:15
krytarikI think you lost me here now.. >_<03:15
Bashing-omkrytarik: Sorry - as is now for the New Members format we have the person's birth name. If we also list their nick - do we do the nick in parens or the birth name in parens? 03:18
krytarikThen the nick in parentheses.03:19
Bashing-omkrytarik: Name (nick); type - link << as the format. 03:20
krytarikBtw, I'm just thinking about whether we should try and link the relevant IRC meeting log instead or alongside the original source - because like in the case of jawn-smith here, the mail doesn't really say much (missing application link etc.)03:22
krytarikYeah, like that.03:22
krytarikI mean not necessarily for this issue still, but as a general idea..03:28
Bashing-omkrytarik: Sounds good - will make it so here in this issue also - I have the time :P will edit the directive into the WIKI template too.03:30
Bashing-omUWN: Once more edits caught up :)04:09
