IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> Is it possible to print a pdf without borders? I have a tri-fold brochure I created so it is critical to have no borders for the folds and alignment to work. I have tried all settings in Okular, LibreOffice Draw and Evince. I have tried both a Lexmark and HP printer. No matter what I do there is always a border margin! Changing settings does not work! Suggestions please!04:32

IrcsomeBot<Anarchotaoist> Even the command line is not helping! Does this look correct? I am still getting a margin!05:05

KorhakaSeems like my user broke, it just doesn't login. Ctrl+alt+f2 and added a second user, the second user works fine08:49
KorhakaWhen trying to log in the wheel icon goes round for maybe 20s or so, then freezes, nothing happens beyond that point08:49
KorhakaOk appear to have fixed it, moved all ~/.* into ~/old and then copy the default profile files back, think that was something like cp -rT /etc/skel "$HOME"09:00
KorhakaObviously that has reset everything, might try moving a few actually useful things back to see if that is fine, like SSH shouldn't bork it09:00

ubottuThe packages in Ubuntu are divided into several sections. More information at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories - See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RecommendedSources for the recommended way to set up your repositories.14:43
omegatronat the bottom left might be a button similar to the windows start button, which gives you a menu to access various software and a search field ... there type in "discover" to get one (of many) "package managers" which lets you install software14:43

CrellHi folks. I'm having serious issues with audio on my laptop, which seem to be getting worse. When I boot, which of my various audio devices get detected seems to vary at random. Sometimes it picks up my external mic (through docking station), sometimes not.  Sometimes it picks up my external speakers (through docking station), sometimes not.  It16:50
Crellnever picks up the internal mic or speakers on the laptop itself.  Nothing seems to make it notice something new other than a restart, and that only sometimes works.  I don't even know how to diagnose this.  Right now it's not finding my speakers at all, and I have a call in 10 minutes. :-)   Any suggestions?16:50
Crell(Running 21.04, I believe.  Haven't upgraded to 21.10 yet.)16:51
CrellThe audio volume is also frequently (but not always) screwy; it has only 3 volume levels: off, low, and high, and anything above high seems to not do anything.16:54

Crellbauchhaus: OK, it's open.  I'm not entirely sure what to do with it. :-)   Master is about 60%, Speaker and PCM at 100%, Headphone at 0.  A bunch of S/PDIF entries are at 0 and have no bars.  Beep is about 30%. Internal is about 40%.18:49

IrcsomeBot<bauchhaus> Crell: you can set the levels here using the arrow keys and also note that you can toggle mute with the m key20:48
Crellbauchhaus: Hm, seems not.  I can fiddle with the levels, but none of them seem to affect the music I have playing at the time.21:41
IrcsomeBot<bauchhaus> Crell: make sure to have the right soundcard active by selecting it with F621:51
Crellheh, I have 5 of them...21:57
CrellIf I use the one in my docking station, that the speakers are connected to... `master` starts at 0, even though I'm hearing music.  I increase it, and it gets louder once and then doesn't change more as I continue to increase it.21:59
