The OEM documentation says to install a custom kernel for this card, but I know from experience, the tuner will work with the standard kernel. I'm finding that this custom kernel is not updated as often as the std. kernel, and I'm having issues with plex occasionally not seeing the tuner(s) in the card.

[17:42] <jhutchins> Airwolf: It pretty much depends on how the custom kernel is managed,  Modern kernels are modular, so only the driver modules shold need to be specific to the tuner.
[17:43] <jhutchins> Airwolf: There should be a config file in /boot for the kernel that you can compare to the config for a stock kernel to see what's been changed.
[17:43] <jhutchins> Airwolf: It should be possible to simply install a stock kernel and it's dependencies.  You should then be able to choose which kernel to load from the grub boot menu.
