=== genii is now known as genii-core [08:50] Hello [10:34] how many proc do you have on xubuntu [10:35] xun-irc333: can you rephrase that question? [10:35] What exactly do you mean by proc? [10:35] process [10:37] xun-irc333: you can obtain the exact number by booting up a Live session. [10:38] i have 220+ [10:39] xun-irc333: was that a poll or a general question? What version of Ubuntu are talking about? What kind of installation: full or minimal? There are tons of factors here. [10:39] *are we [10:39] xubuntu [10:39] can i disable some [10:40] xun-irc333: Xubuntu also has versions: 18.04, 20.04, 21.10 (current non-LTS), upcoming 22.04 (Jammy development branch). [10:40] 20.4 [10:41] xun-irc333: what do you want to achieve here? Free up RAM? Are you getting freezes and crashes? [10:41] no freeze [10:42] Then I wouldn't worry about such things. [10:45] Hi everyone. [10:45] Can somebody help me. After a few months, now after suspend/sleep I don't get a lockscreen... After reboot it starts to work good for some time/days, then again after resume - no lockscreen, can't see anything in systemlog... and by itself, lockscreen is working. [10:47] ivan41: Hi and welcome. Could you tell us the version of Xubuntu you're running? [10:55] KBar, o I think I just use xfce on Ubuntu 20.04:) , I should ask in #xfce then I think.. :) [10:55] but I have Xubuntu logo when boot OS [10:56] ivan41: can you run `echo $XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP`? [10:56] What's the output? [10:56] » ➜ ◯ echo $XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP [10:56] xfce [10:58] ivan41: you're currently running plain Xfce. `sudo cat /var/log/installer/media-info` [10:59] Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20210819)% JPC ॐ ~: [11:00] yes I think it is wat's called plain, because firstly I installed clean ubuntu 20.04 [11:02] Thanks. Yes, your question would fit in #xfce. You can also join us on forum.xfce.org and look for answer there. Anyway, if it started happening just recently, that means it's because of 1) an update you did; 2) some settings and configurations you edited. [11:02] *answers [11:03] ivan41: check if it's enabled in the "Screensaver" app itself and configured properly. [11:34] KBar: yeah, I did some settings, somehow in the Whisker menu, buttons like logout, reboot, etc, disappeared, just added again by tick in the settings, etc... but now again  -works good (without reboot), [11:37] also just now got this: https://i.imgur.com/9RiBUpX.png don't know what is it [11:38] Also tried to add xflock4, like: xflock4 && sudo systemctl suspend [11:39] ivan41: for the first one, try to put `bash -c evolution -c calendar` in the Exec= field. [11:40] ivan41: for the 2nd and 3rd, just change the type value as suggested. [11:41] ivan41: `xflock4` to Whisker Menu? [11:41] yeah, ok, but now it is working again, I hope it will appear very seldom, just even don't know how to debug this thing [11:41] yeah in Properties/Commands/Suspend [11:42] maybe it was some problems with suspend issues etc.. feels that way, anyway thanks for help [11:43] ivan41: but why would you do that? You want to combine both actions? [11:43] xflock and suspend? [11:43] no, just changed it back to normal, I've tried before and it is not worked, maybe I should use bash -c instead (I mean at that time when lockscreen wasn't work) [11:44] ivan41: just turn the lock screen feature on and enable auto-locking on suspend. [11:44] That's it. [11:44] No need to mess with configs. [11:44] I saw it somewhere in settings, about this xflock before suspend... Didn't remember wheere [11:44] I see. [11:45] yeah, now it is working good, but when it was broken I've tried with xflock :) [11:45] That's great. Well done. [20:34] hiiii [20:36] hi manu1 [20:36] tomreyn: hi [20:36] o/ [20:37] do you have a xubuntu question, by chance? [20:37] sorry just out of boredem here :) [20:37] used to be a xubuntu user [20:37] :) ok [20:38] tomreyn: as much as i like xubuntu, i really had issues with tiny window title/bar, my eyes get worse and worse [20:39] and this can't be modified? [20:39] i dont know [20:40] i guess i'd rather go for suitable glasses, though, if there are which can compensate [20:40] *any [20:40] hehe [20:41] varifocal glasses would help there if you're aging. [20:42] tomreyn: you are old too? [20:42] :D [20:42] getting there, not yet. we should move to #ubuntu-offtopic if we'll continue this chat [20:42] oh ok [20:42] * #xubuntu-offtopic [20:42] oh
